i juz install other monitoring tools which is core temp. and pc wizard 2008. Both shows temp at idle 33c and 55~58c for running othos and ambient at 42c. This reading seems to calm me down and not to worry but Intel thermal analysis tool shows a diff temp reading tht is much higher. just wandering if you guys notice such thingy?

hmm .. that's not a bad cooler ...

U sure ur thermal paste is apply correctly .. btw which thermal paste that u used ..

make sure the base of heatsink is cleaned properly same goes to CPU HIS..

do it again with a good thermal paste like Artic Cooling MX-2 or Artic Silver 5.

and make sure the fan isn't running very low rpm during load ...

i'm using those cheapo CM thermal grease ($6). Thinking to get a good artic silver 5 in future. At full load orthos. pc wizard 08 showing fan spinning at 23XX rpm, so i guess it's on full function, in future all i can do to improve feather is re-apply artic silver5 or do lapping. while in the mean time, i'll let the chip burn in. thx for all your help. thumbup.gif

Problem:

Just discovered that my other rig, running on old 945mobo with C2D E4400, is having some really funny load CPU temperature. Idle temperature looks normal to me. but the load temperature is sweat.gif

On idle
CPU : 38C
Core0: 46C
Core1: 47C

On load
CPU: 59C (Over 20C increase!!)
Core0: 67C
Core1: 68C

user posted image

Cooler: AC Freezer Pro7

I've tried:
1. Reapply TIM (AS5)
2. Remount the heatsink
3. Updated Bios

Question:

Does anyone with Intel C2D E4400 have this problem with ridiculously high load temperature? Or there's something wrong with the CPU?

probably u need a real thermal sensor equipment to find out ....

whether it's something with the sensor probe or it's really so hot ...

It shouldn't be any problem with the cooler .... I'm using E6600 for 1.5 years but never incur CPU idle and load temperature as high as yours..

Did you overclock ? if not then I bet it's problem with the temperature sensor.. either get your processor tested on another mobo to clarify or get a temperature sensor equipment.

no, it never been overclocked...anyway the E4400 is in my parents' house, mainly for internet surfing only. I discovered the extremely high load temp only when i tried running Folding@Home the other day.

Right now, the CPU almost never used till full load. so not much concern for me as the idle temp looks ok.

if got time, I'll try swapping e4400 on another board. Thanks again for the help.

alright then. Well, I was a little worry because my GC reaches temp of 80-90C when playing Crysis. So im planning to get a new heat sink beginning of February. I HATE THE ORI HEAT SINK. I'm planning on getting the AC Accelero. The HR-03T is a lil of budget. Any other coolers to recommend?

But then when i open up my case to take a real look at the condition of the card, i saw those marks maar. But the GC still works fine. So i was wondering whether it is a melting sign or what. Lol.

Hey guys im not very good at all this... but recently i have problems with my cpu temperature. When i play games my intel desktop utilities prog tell me that the temperature exceeds the max threshold. Then after restarting the comp and check without doing anything else already the temperature is 60c..... I used speedfan to verify and it is telling me the same thing. So something must be really wrong right? I have opened the CPU case to allow more ventilation but is still that temp.

Here is my dodgy processor/heatsink/fan watever its called

So is it about time i replace my cooling system? And also, does high temp affect performance ie. gets more laggy

It is actually quite clean. Very minimal dust compared to my other computer in Melbourne and even that cpu doesnt overheat

Btw just more info:
