Ok this comp my dad bought when i was still studying in Melbourne wan. No one in my family knows about computers except me (onli overclocked gpu b4) so i dont think its overclocked. Im assuming you are talking about CPU right? Should be nothing to do with graphic card but if u had to know my graphic card is winfast 7950gt and i heard its a bit overclocked.

no..it's definitely dirty from the pic.. between the fins of your heatsink, there's dirt and dust that you might not see, try taking off the heatsink and REALLY clean it... from your pic, it's damn dirty especially between the fins..

but before you do that, make sure you know what you are doing first... Do get ready some Thermal Interface Material (TIM) cleaner and some fresh TIM like Arctic Cooling MX-2...

apply a small amount of TIM between your heatsink and your CPU when you remount your cleaned heatsink... :peace

doh.gif I usually take out da HSF n clean it wit a brush.... Then make sure ur thermal paste is been cleaned off n reapply.... Get TX-2, is cheaper n better than MX-2.... Dats wat i m using now on a stock HSF n 43c on idle..... nod.gif Be sure 2 clean it nicely. + make sure its contact nicely 2 da proc.... thumbup.gif

mmm...

the dirt is hard to clean between the fins with just a cloth... better take the heatsink off from your CPU to clean it...

dun do it if you dun know the proper procedure to remount the heatsink..

yeah i dont think im gonna do it
tmr bring to comp shop and see
but i just opened my case and take a closer look
i really dont think the dirt is enough to cause the temp to be so high on idle

one of the easiest way is to get a air spray can and blow all the dust as way ..

that would leave you with a almost dust free cleaned system ... better prepare a vacuum to suck the dust blew by the air spray can ....

I don't like to let the so called technician at the shop to handle my PC ..

Not every technician would treat your PC nicely ..

take a bit of initiative to learn how to clean PC regularly to avoid overheat issue..

guys,

which is reliable to monitor temp? speedfan or coretemp?

speed fan on both core i have a reading at idle 36 and load at 57. this is the same with my p35-ds3 mobo readings...

coretemp i have a reading at idle 50 and load at 68.

im on e2140 with xigmatek s963 with AS5 paste.

Try to install the mobo utility of Gigabyte as well ..

then compare the three set of results .. most likely u would fine two of them very similar or almost identical then the other one is the inaccurate result ..

mobo utility showed temp of the same like that of speedfan...

so does it mean core temp not accuarte?

coretemp only shows your core temperature, specifically, core0 and core1 for dual core machine

speedfan also shows temperature for both core0 and core1, but you will also notice another temperature readings called CPU temp... that's the tcase reading of your CPU.

so far i have no problem with Coretemp, while with Speedfan, i need to do minor calibration to synchronize with the readings from intel TAT..

by the way, u can try Intel Thermal ANalysis tool, which i think is the most accurate
