QUOTE(spikeee @ Mar 27 2007, 10:40 AM) Erm guys, am totally a n00b at cooling. i want to start improving the cooling within my system unit. my questions are the following : 1) What are the equipment that i will need to clean my system unit and install new fans? (canned air? mounts for fans? what size fans? etc) 2) Where can i get these equipment? A list of equipments that i would need will be very helpful, guys! Thanks in advanced! 1) whatever u can use to clean the dust inside the casing, like brush. When come to the fans, it depends on the casing u using rite now, whether it can put a 80mm fan or 120mm fan. 2) most of the computer shops got sell those things....

Well, I not sure whether i ask in the correct place... I would like to ask that whether a thermal compound like AS5 will expired? I have a AS5 where I bought it a year ago(IIRC..), so I not sure whether this thermal compound will perform the same like a brand new AS5 or its performances will be lower since it is already 1 year old... Thanks for helping!

QUOTE(blessedvillain @ Jun 4 2007, 02:44 PM) Seems very good temperature you got there.... my idle only can go about 50C~51C ... somemore using a very good airflow lian li case and applied AS5. Wat PSU are u using currently? I'm using Acbel 450W... I had the same temp like u before when i was using my previous casing, idle at around 52-54... But then i change to LL case, idle temp decrease a lot~

QUOTE(afosz @ Jun 18 2007, 12:44 AM) I'm using Vista, which software is suitable to monitor temp? SpeedFan still ok in Vista? Coz currently, mine not working well. Same goes to Everest Ultimate, can't detect any sensor though Speedfan 4.32 running well on my Vista. Same for Everest Ultimate Edition v4.00.976, no problem in detecting the temperature. Other choice will be Core Temp 0.95 and TAT...

QUOTE(peng01 @ Jul 5 2007, 03:43 AM) P4 2.4 precott, stock hsf idle 60C, full load 70C terrible, this month weather very hot !!! that's hot.... i think u better reapply again the thermal compound, or u need to make some cables arrangement inside ur case... My previous prescott, maximum idle temp was only 45C, not matter how hot the weather, but normally will only run at around 40C... Full load will be 57-60C...

QUOTE(Mr.Lonely @ Oct 6 2007, 03:25 PM) need help with my ultra 120 extreme..... i just change my intel hsf to ultra 120 extreme but i notice tat de temp. din drop as wat i aspected... i just install de cooler according to de installation guide i apply de thermalpaste as wat de guide say...... but just i leave it without mounting a fan on it..... my intel stock HSF with 52C at full load and my Ultra 120 is 47C full load seem not drop too much Since u didn't attach it with a fan, so the temperature is totally normal. Go buy a high RPM fan and attach on it, then u will able to see the different.

QUOTE(iman_210 @ Jan 22 2008, 10:51 AM) then which 1 should i rely on? getting confused here? seeing idle closing on near 50 made me for what I know, the bios' temperature reading, aka CPU temp, is the temp from the proc IHS whereas the core0/1 is the temp reading from the core. So, core0/1 temp will be higher and we more rely on the core0/1 temp. Correct me if i'm wrong.

QUOTE(TSY @ Apr 12 2008, 09:44 AM) does anyone enable the PECI function in the bios? coz after i enable it, my speedfan CPU temp is lower compare to last time, 42c drop to 32c now(idle), 52c drop to 42c(full load) btw using E6600, current setting is 333X9 @ 1.25V should be EIST or C1E, not PECI... these 2 function are used to allow the processor to run at a lower voltage when in idle mode, hence the temperature will be lower at idle, but will be the same when in full load.
