12.8 ms input lag on the C9 , quite a decent upgrade from last year's model .

Unfortunately the advertised 120 mhz BFI from CES 2019 is being pulled last minute , so no 120mhz BFI this year .

There is a gap between the rear stand so you can do some cable management now but I personally don't like the design of the new metal stand .
As mentioned before , the C9 gets a separate setting for smooth gradation . Last year it was baked into the MPEG noise reduction which is not ideal.

The calibration report from I saw ; gamma tracking is quite flat ootb , too little blue , too much red at higher ire (70-100).
Post calibration the average DE is below 1.0 for both grayscale and colors , which is considered reference level of accuracy . Again remember panel variance also play a role .

No changes to peak brightness , current gen of OLED ( BOTTOM emission ) has already reach its maximum peak brightness of roughly 1000 nits.

New peak luminance adjustment for HDR tonemapping curve .
Most people who know about WRGB OLED display is no stranger to fact that color volume has always been one of the major weakness of WRGB OLEDs.

In order to retain the saturation of colors , Sony has cut down the peak brightness of their AF9 by roughly 25% .

C9 provides you with 3 levels of peak luminance adjustment for HDR tonemapping curve from High , Medium to Low. High is essentially what we have on the current LG OLEDs .
By restricting the peak luminance to medium , you can achieve better color volume results like AF9 did.

LG Autocal 2019 have also provided more info for enthusiasist who like to play around with the settings , details at below .

They have not confirm anything but it may still have a chance to happen , especially when they are shifting focus onto the larger size and higher resolution OLEDs ( 77' , 82')

There were rumors that their 8K OLED (which will be released later this year) is using top emission with a new Indium gallium zinc oxide (IZGO) backplane .

Again , LG has never confirm anything so all of these could have changed. Just like how they've found a critical issue with the 120mhz BFI and pull them last minute.

The review numbers for C9 has been released by rting

here

The measurement of 13 ms Input latency from one of their french PR event is wrong.

21 ms is the right number ( yes that's right , more or less the same as C8 )

Evidence :

Update : there has been another new firmware update (03.50.31) , it appears the 13 ish ms input lag for 4k 60hz is correct afterall.

Either the new firmware has a bug or RTINGS numbers are wrong, 4k + HDR is 39ms?

They are correct it seems. They have retested it twice the input latency for 4k HDR is indeed 39ms , on the latest firmware at least.

Might have been a bug with the ALLM (auto low latency mode ) . LG has openly promised 13 ms for gamers before this , 39ms for HDR games is simply unacceptable especially when there are a lot of HDR games thesedays .

The past 2 months have basically been a nightmare for LG OLED engineers . There are a bunch of issues on the C8 which they have been fixing one after another . The Arrival of new OLED (and new batch of problems ) doesn't help either .

Ah OK got it. Yeah the fact they pulled a feature they were gloating about in CES at the last minute definitely sucks...

For now I'll continue using my Samsung h5000 plasma till it breaks or till we have top emmision 65 inch panel for about 10k MYR tongue.gif

A little doubtful that they will have top emission panels for the "C10" next year, at least not on the 55" model. Seems like LGD is pushing top emision for big sizes instead of the more popular 55" and 65" market.

The 65"LG C8 can be found for around RM10k , so you are only saving a few hundred bucks at the compromises of Dolby Vision .

There are currently hundreds of UHD blurays and thousands of hours of TV shows mastered in Dolby vision on Netflix / Amazon , so it is definitely something worth considering.

In your opinion, worth it to wait for C9 or just go for C8?
