Heard about breville weak point is that they cant take oily beans  and most of the part will tends to break.... not sure how true is that....
*
Actually other way round. Light roasted beans, especially Nordic style, might not be able to grind or even break
Oily beans a.k.a beans are much more fragile

Lots of report that Breville Grinder gear will strip if using hard bean (especially light roasted bean). For durability better go for commercial unit. Most likely you only need to change the burr few years later and good as new. I previously consider Smart grinder BCG820 but change my mind due to above issue.

interesting comments on BGP! but given the price at RM1500++, id rather go for a mignon MK2 which is selling approx for RM1900 in malaysia by coffee ritual if i remember right! which is much better build and lasting!! 50mm burrs! That is if you just want espresso grinds all the time and use your hand grinder for V60/pourovers!

But as i said i like conical burrs so I'm gonna wait for the barratza sette! brows.gif

@d33 Yes when i was doing some research on boilers that copper is naturally anti bac and those deposit you see on the outside is protecting the coppers! but IDK and lime scale build up on copper is faster than on Stainless Steal! so better to descale it yearly!

Here have a good read! http://www.finecoffeecompany.com/copper-bo...resso-machines/

Yes, hand grinding is tiring. That's y I'm looking for an electronic grinder. But didnt expect there are more to invest rather than just a simple grinder. However, advise is there. Just thinking starting to make a good shot is not as simple as it is anymore.

What about Breville Smart Grinder BCG820? Good?
http://www.lazada.com.my/breville-smart-co...20-4753738.html

Is that product good? Pricing wise almost I can get a commercial grinder edy just add in few hundreds.

I started out with a Hario, got tired very quickly but it's reliable biggrin.gif

There is the Breville Smart Grinder BCG800 and the Breville Smart Grinder Pro BCG820. You want the pro version, currently going for ~RM1.5k, much cheaper if you're ever in Australia biggrin.gif Not sure where you can get a commercial grinder for a few hundred more, can you clue us in?

Ah good point, I completely forgot about that deal. Personally I'm not sure if I can do taobao for such a big amount biggrin.gif but very tempting.

For those actually looking at the Breville, Breville Malaysia has a current promo, likely for hari raya, offering 2-year warranty instead of 1-year.

Actually, for those who are considering Breville, I notice noone mentions the BCG600 Dose Control Pro. It sells at RM986 at Harvey Normans. Pretty good reviews all around; of course in terms of longevity would probably not compare well with the commercials but at literally half the price or less.

Now with the current 2 year warranty, I would say a very decent deal.

Some Taiwanese fella suggested me this product. About RM1000. And I'm going to TW in July. 64mm. Very similar to Super Jolly.
Taobao "Super Jolly"

I'm saw in Taobao some other link, selling around RM1700 for Mazzer Super Jolly.

Another offer, similar with "Super Jolly" selling around RM900 in Taobao. If it's good, I wouldnt mind tapao it from Taiwan and bring it back my self... Probably drop by Feng Da as well...

Good deal on those grinders on taobao.

Taiwan uses 110v/60hz if I recall so you need a step down transformer to get the grinders to work on Malaysia's 230v/50hz power supply. I assume there's going to no effect on performance, just wondering if anyone's done this before?

Shouldnt be so much difference. If there's really make a difference, then see lo whats the alternative.

The difference shud be the same for those product from oversea as well.

Maybe someone can share the difference as well as the quality of the grinders...

i had been using 110v with transformer on my grinder...there is no much of the different in the performance but you just need to spend abit more to get the transformer and little careful where you plug the devices on the transformer only.... biggrin.gif
