I did survey & see taobao review b4 decide to buy. Consistant price all taobao seller. This is manual model. Cheaper than timer model. UK is selling around rm2k b4 GST, so i believe should be genuine. Taobao competative, always found item price near supplier price, low profit margin.

Weight 15.7kg. I use sea freight, took 3 weeks to arrive. 0.1 meter cubic, rm 50 shipping fees. No GST or custom tax item from taobao.

Yes i have to agree!! from my experience in courier, in malaysia its suppose to be tax free for items below RM500 (Product + Shipping fees) Quite impossible TBH!! but small items can be done (Eg: Tampers, mats, knock box, Etc). so my experience is ordering tamper from BellaBarista in UK my total order including shipping is Less then RM500 but when arrive here kena tax!! bangwall.gif What the Fedex here does is they inflate my shipping fees to RM 360 when i only paid RM150 so i kena 6% Import GST! LOL and with pos malaysia it depends on luck! (Sometimes i kena sometimes i don't) rclxub.gif

Any burr grinder recommendation?
I do have manual burr grinder that bought from Feng Da Coffee Shop from Taiwan.
Thinking of getting electronic one but couldn't find a budget version of it. Any suggestion?

Just read bout this...
https://prima-coffee.com/learn/article/buyi...-grinder-basics

May give blade a go and search for alternative for Burr Grinder instead...

Thats the thing about espresso. It's not forgiving when it comes to grind fineness and consistency so you don't get to choose the "cheap" option
Of course there's the pressurized portafilter machines which let's you get away with it but then the quality of the shot typically suffers

sure they would ask you to get commercial grade grinders like super jolly or least min baratza vario. Don go for home grinder or entry level grinders (mean forget about local known brand like breville, de longhi, krups)

woo... ain't cheap these stuff... for entry level, any grinder?
Or I shud go straight for Super Jolly or Baratza instead? Feeling it's bit overkill at the moment if going straight for such grinder.

Entry level are mostly those gaggia MDF, Grinta, Breville dose control pro and more...... Prefer to go straight for Baratza or Mazzer or Eureka and more because grinder can last very long (If you maintain it) and you will feel the difference between a commercial grinder vs home use grinder alot.....

1. Backflush best do it bi-weekly (Depend on how often you used the machine, for me i don used it everyday so i do it bi-weekly)
2. Descale best is do half year once, If you used filter water many be 1 year once.
3. Full overhaul strip service is about 3 years max (by then you had most item inside plastic or rubber having full wear and tear and may not be as good as before so part need to replace).

Place of service you mean where ? KL ? Penang ? i havent came to charges yet because the last time i ask, I get cold response and some no response at all (Probably i using home machine instead of commercial machine hmm.gif )

A good grinder will not be overkill at all coz it last (some say 10 years?) !! but I'm more of a fan of conical burrs!! u can use you hand grinder to test out the shots and see if you like them before rushing to an electronic grinder!! I'm waiting for the baratza sette to arrive because it looks promising and i can retire my hand grinder for pour overs! MyEspresso said they will bring it in and should be expecting in sept!! not sure of pricing tho!!

@d33 Walio those boilers is beat up!! lol but no worries its all copper (anti bac properties) brows.gif oh ya coppers are very soft in nature do not over tighten or use excessive force to open!! Great restoration project indeed!! thumbup.gif

For long term, it may serve a greater value.
But as for beginner like me, maybe use manual grinder first before heading to something more. Unless there's another sales promoting this stuff.

Thanks for the suggestion and advises ^^

ahaha, Are you sure that is anti back properties ? hmm.gif

that look more like lime build up and could possibly weaken the structure of the cooper
I forgot to take the picture of the citric acid with the boiler in it..... you will be shock to see that actually there is a black layer (I don know what that called, perhaps oxide or rust, maybe ?) of coating cover over shiny copper material and it peel off like a tissue paper...

Yup, Go easy on the cooper, you might easily break or loosen the thread of the cooper.

i bet the price for baratza sette will cost at least easily 2.5k tops....Judging from the GST and custom tax that will impose on the seller and the seller to us. Original USD price cost almost 1.8K (Low version Sette 270 without the "W")

hand grinder can get very tiring very fast bangwall.gif
In espresso preparation, there's constant need to change grind settings. Each time you get a new bag of coffee, there's dose and grind settings to tweak to figure out the shot parameters. This can take anywhere from 3-5 consecutive shots to figure out. If you use the same grinder to switch around filter/espresso, that setting will move every time too. So, watch out on how committed are you to hand grind through all that

My usual advice to home barista - save enough to get you close to a commercial level grinder. Before that, just enjoy your coffee with a hand grinder + aeropress/v60/french press

Take a look at the Breville Smart Grinder? BCG820

By the way, I'm looking to let go an old grinder. Motor is fine but lots of replacement/repairs needed. It's a 64mm flat burr though. Anybody up for the challenge can just drop by and pick it up from me - FREE

Yes, hand grinding is tiring. That's y I'm looking for an electronic grinder. But didnt expect there are more to invest rather than just a simple grinder. However, advise is there. Just thinking starting to make a good shot is not as simple as it is anymore.

What about Breville Smart Grinder BCG820? Good?

Is that product good? Pricing wise almost I can get a commercial grinder edy just add in few hundreds.

Yes, that Breville can give you grind consistency almost rivaling Mythos / EK. It's just not built for a high volume cafe setting. Reliability wise, not sure
I would say this machine is at a lower side of the price spectrum for commercial quality grinds. Price you need to go around hunt for deals tongue.gif

I'll let some others comment on those China offerings. Welhome is one of them
