Dont worry about the milk it wont separate so fast after you had froth (Unless you frothing technic is not good enough). All you need to do is to swirl the milk in the pitcher. I seen many videos do that (Froth, clean and purge wand and continue to swirl the pitcher) and they still have cooperated micro foam pour from their pitcher. A little bit dirty is ok, you can come back to clean it later unless you dont do maintenance on your machine all the time (e.g dissamble to group head, steam wand and do cleaning, blackflush, descale). I think having semi auto machine, it is common practice already.
Yup, but better version of that .... i think a way to cover the previous hole with some rubber cap or something soft

I was planing to tear apart the Oscar and do the dip on the descale until i find this.

Although it is not recommended as some chuck of scale lime might fall off and block the hole path on the water dispense area or steam area but at least it did the job of descaling it as i i see some light blue colour water coming out of the machine. Previously I try to ask some professional shop if they did do maintenance on the unit and also charging price but they cant seem to bother or want to response to it because it is a home machine not those commercial type ones.

So i took the matter into my own hands and do maintenance myself. Talking about got money to give but don want to do business. biggrin.gif

Hey, can anyone explain how Auresso works? Is the "3 bags monthly" subscription a bag a month or 3 bags at one go? And is there shipping fees?
*
Haven't tried them before, but from what I read, they send you 3 bags of (250/1kg) beans at one go, either at a Monthly or forthnightly basis.
So if you chose monthly, it will probably charge your Credit Card RM 160/140 every month, and send the 3 bags of beans on a monthly basis (all 3 bags in 1 delivery). NEXT FRESH COFFEE DELIVERY: JUN-02-2016.

Seems a bit pricey to me though, 750g for RM 160, though they do come all the way from Aus.

Best to check with them. If they do indeed send the three bags in one go, then they are not selling a subscription at all. What would be the difference between that and an outright sale?

They don't clearly state it on their website though, so it is confusing for some of us. But when i went to their order page, it seems like you have to comment what beans you want before confirming your purchase, where it seems like your are only paying for the 3 bags. There are no indications that they will auto charge you, and if they do, there seems to be a flaw where you can't change the beans you want since there is no option for that. It comes down to about RM53 per bag, which isn't so expensive considering the current prices of local beans, unless you know of any roasters selling at a much cheaper price.

But what i'm really contemplating is that if you just buy 1kg of one type of bean, the price comes down to RM31 for 250g which is really cheap, only problem is that i consume about 250g in one or two weeks meaning the beans will be sitting for too long. But if they really do send 3 bags at a time, I might just get the 1kg bag instead.

I hv intention to get descale maintenance once in few years at the beginning of owning this machine. After did some googling, someone mention that our country water is quite soft. Using filtered water the scaling process will be very slow. Worry too much. Then i change my mind & plan to let it be. Use until it broke down & got reason to upgrade to other fancy machine. Haha. My oscar is one year old this month xD

Anyone have old kittle or experience overhaul their espresso machine? Plz check & share is the scaling bad?

There is note u can leave there what choice of coffee bean origin u want in the order process. U can make note option of 2 weeksly or monthly bean delivery. I used to regular purchase coffee bean from this website. But i cant get good crema from the bean bought there.

My current source of daily coffee is sumatra origin 500g/rm36 from http://www.lebistrocoffee.com, urban cafe espresso blend 500g/rm60, merdeka coffee mayb 250g/rm30 if not mistake from antipodean.

I have a Gaggia Carezza espresso machine. The timer automatically tells you to descale after a certain number of uses/or amount of time has elapsed.
The descaling solution came out absolutely Clean and Clear - no sign of scale anywhere. It served no purpose other than getting a lot more wear-and-tear (and lessening it's service life) to the brew pump!

Well, I did my descale on my Silvia after once a year and practically there is a scale build up in the machine after a year of using it. The color that comes out after the solution pour in as you can see it is fainted sea blue color.

Many coffee forums recommend Dow Corning/Molykote 111 silicone grease. I suspect any NSF 61 food-grade certified silicone grease from 3M,
SuperLube, Orelube, etc would fit the bill. (Seems Petrol Gel is a trade named paraffin-based, food-grade white lubricant)

Consistent flow of the water to the puck and those micron hole will help to kept minimal those left over coffee stuck at the brass group head. I notice some say it produce better crema but Im not amuse as i can make them from fresh beans anyway. They had for Philips Saeco as well....

You can get Loctite NSF H1 food grade silicone grease from RS malaysia, but it costs a bomb: RM60 for 85 grams! Or you can try Orelube from Boelube Malaysia, RM140 for 410 grams. Online purchase from Superlube also works, i think abt USD30 for 400 gms. These are all 2014 prices, that's when I hunted around for grease. Just make sure there are least amount of unnecessary additives, like PTFE, as possible.
Forgot to mention, cheaper alternative is to go to most dive shops, and look for silicone grease for lubricating O-rings and dive regulators.

If you get serious into roasting later on, you will outgrow this machine very quickly. You don't really get to train your skills without the ability to read bean temps and adjust airflow/roation to build a profile.
There's alot of other limitations to go through too but again that's comparing to a >10k machine which is unfair

If you're looking for a machine just to learn the fundamentals of coffee roasting, z popcorn popper machine is good enough. I picked one up for RM60 when first started.
If you don't mind covering postage or buy me a cup of coffee when you're around, I can passover the machine to you for no cost. I've even added a dimmer mod to allow some small temp control smile.gif

You can look into a Hottop or Huky 500 if you want something closer to commercial machines
