Quite like startbuck Americano or McD coffee..

Am using Aeropress now, but dont have grinder.

You can't man. Just can't.
Be nice to your aeropress and get yourself a hand grinder. It's really worth the investment over buying pre-ground beans biggrin.gif

So what's the topic on Oscar you want to chat ? I find many ppl are very rare to mod their machine.
*
I guess I'm a little hesitant on the OPV and flow restrictor mod.
There was a topic way back where we talked about pressure and flow rate. I'm not sure if I lower the pressure of the small vibration pump, will I mess up the flow rate?

Yea, we should do some group buy for Oscar mods, screens and baskets
Also with the IMS/VST baskets, a 58.34mm tamper?

You need to play around with the variables to only know if it is affecting it but im seeing alot of ppl install OPV and flow restrictor mod without a problem. All you need is a gauge to measure it ensure they on the right spot.

Yup, If you see the elektro's install video. It is damm easy, all you need is a torque wrench, and some screw loctite. Remove the old anti-vac with torque wrench, apply screw loctite, hand screw and tighten with torque on new anti-vac.

I would suggest to purchase from Elektro's. They sold bundle one set with OPV and vacum breaker in a single package (save the hassle of clicking twice in the basket) but you had to bear in mind that there will be tax when it reach our shores as i did kena on my steam wand mod part.

Noooooooo!
@ymeng85 is absolutely correct.
When ground, beans have much more surface area, thus they get stale much, much quicker.
A Hario Mini Mill (sold at Aeon / Isetan / Parkson) at RM125 is such a small price to pay to get the best from your beans.

Also, try to avoid coffee beans sitting on shelves at supermarkets.
They've most likely been sitting there for months on end.
Start by checking out Bean Shipper. It's a local setup which ships fresh beans from local roasters to your door.
Tan is such an awesome dude and i haven't had any bad experiences dealing with him.
The stuff they carry are priced and taste waaay better than those of SB or McD.

Anyone visit Easy Brew in penang? What u guys think about their fresh roasted bean?

Beans roasted on the spot. The beans roasted for me is packed in small packages, 21 gram each. Surprised me.
I bought 100gm X 5 each origin to try. Received multiple small packages. Dont need to worry about keeping the beans stored fresh.

As my knowledge roasted beans need to rest a minimum of 24H for de-gasing before packing. Means they can't pack it on the spot after roasting. those small package is a good idea but what if you only need 15-18g of coffee? i guess that extra is for retention clearing! brows.gif brows.gif i still think 250g bag is a good size to buy a few and keep!

Coffee needs a minumum of 12-24 hours rest after roasting before it is brewed. You can drink it before then but the body and flavor really start to develope after a a day or so. Don't wait too long to drink it though depending on the coffee the "cup quality" will show a loss in overall flavor after a week. Therefore, we call coffee "fresh" for 7 days if it is stored properly:

- Stir the hot beans in the collander until warm to the touch. When we're roasting another batch, we transfer them to a small bowl until they cool completely.
- After the beans have cooled put them into an open glass storage jar. Since we roast many varieties and blends of coffee in small quantities, we use the Mason canning screw-top jars. If you use the type with the glass lid attached to the jar with wire, make sure the rubber seal is intact and in good condition. Otherwise, the jar is useless.
- After 8-12 hours, we seal the jar tightly. Freshly roasted coffee emits C02 for the first 24 hours, keeping away the oxygen which will eventually make it stale. Some recommend sealing the container after a full 24 hours, but we have never had a problem sealing it sooner.

U can request any weight of packages. The price for beans is Rm15/100gram before roast. May lost up to 20% weight after roast. If buy 500gram above rm13/100gram. The one i bought is 500gram b4 roast rm65, 5 different origin. There r wide range of beans.
We experience short free cupping session with two other visitors. Sumatra & papua new guinea pea berry. Served pour over & french press.

They provide online purchase, but im not sure online can request multiple small vacuum packages not. Should be rm 10 delivery fees. http://www.easybrew.com.my

They r the links that i found @ google for reference:
