QUOTE(SonnyCooL @ Apr 12 2016, 09:28 PM) guy where to find saeco poemia part ? Hi,my water/pump control broke after 1 day of using but sen heng refuse for warranty claim .... wtf Sorry to hear that, but senheng should at least help you with the warranty or parts. Alternatively you could go to philips service centre at Jalan tandang PJ and enquire about the price of the replacement part. Is it the silver knob that is broken? The pump and machine still functioning well? |

QUOTE(skitZo` @ Apr 7 2016, 11:15 PM) pierreye Hi SkitZoWow ! nice info there on the PID. Would sure like to install it myself but not sure how. Anyway I'm a Poemia user too. Have been using it for 2 years plus, depressurised the portafilter and using a 53mm tamper to tamp. Grind wise using a cheap China Yangchia / Flyeagle 600N grinder can give me quite some nice grinds , my dosage is 16gm of 45ml coffee in 25 secs. As for the Stock pannarello , i replaced it with this Poemia Pannarello its basically a pannarello but once you remove the cover its a normal steam wand. Steam wise i used the steaming trick where i start steaming right before the steaming light turns on, can produce nice microfoam since the boiler is keep on producing steam. lowkl you can check out the wand in the above link if you want to replace the stock panarello and extend the length of the steaming wand. Cheers! May I know how you get your Flyeagle? I dont think it is available in Malaysia right? You got it via TaoBao? Thanks |

QUOTE(SonnyCooL @ Apr 14 2016, 05:04 PM) I have one major problem with the 600N (or at least the 600N "version" that I have): retention. Allow me to share a photo:Every once in a while the grinder coughs up a large clump of fines, most probably from these retained grounds finally shaking free. Exactly what this does to the actual taste of the coffee, is a good question. The problem is I don't have any reference point to measure against. In terms of clumping & retention, the manual Hario Skerton is the only thing I can compare with. |

I hang my head in shame.... I've decided to re-pressurize my portafilter.
No matter what I've done, I can't seem to get an extraction longer than 16 seconds... tried increasing grind size, tried decreasing grind size, light tamp, hard tamp, swirling round with a toothpick.... output was very inconsistent: I would say I only got acceptable quality about 10% of the time. Yes, the few times it came out right it was a pretty decent shot, perhaps better than with the pressurized, but the inconsistency was way too frustrating. I am waiting for the PID components to come in (should be within 2 weeks) so will try this first before making a second attempt at depressurizing. |

Or only your case? In terms of clumping & retention, the manual Hario Skerton is the only thing I can compare with. Is it 600N = Feima (Flyhorse) and 900N = Feiying (Flyeagle) ? P.S.: I just found the description on Feima and Feiying in here https://thinkingcoffee.wordpress.com/2014/0...g-600n-grinder/ Besides, are this grinder suitable for espresso machine? QUOTE(user5092 @ Apr 15 2016, 11:37 AM) Is it the design faulty? Or only your case? Because seems like those China user didn't voice out this problem. Firstly, it is exactly this post that pointed me to this grinder & to this supplier. As such, I believe my model is identical to the article. No idea on the 600N/900N versions; sorry. However, if you look at the various models on Lelong, there seems to be two clear price groups; one at RM300-RM400, and another at RM700-RM800. This huge variance is probably due to *something* but I have no idea what. There are a few videos on YouTube reviewing this grinder; the most informative are those from Indonesia. They are of course in Indonesian, but since we understand Malay we can get the gist of it. Carefully examining the videos, I would say that the version I am using is a lower quality build than the Indonesian one. Purely from the look of it, I think the one found on Lelong called Delisio looks identical. I think there are two reasons why the retention rate is high: 1) the screw feed area - the tolerance between the screw feed and the cavity is too big. When I compare it to the absolute reference of this kind of grinder being the EK43, you can see that the EK43's cavity is actually not centred around the screw feed but offset, so that the tolerance between the caviry wally and screw feed at the bottom is very fine. I'm thinking of 3D printing an insert to fill up the unnecessary space to fix this. 2) the rotor burr uses two really crude sweeper "arms" to push the grounds into the chute; they are really just two rectangular boxes jutting out exactly at right angles. Just looking at them I would suspect that 50% of grounds go one way (towards the chute) while 50% go the other way (into the cavity behind the rotor). Once in this cavity the grounds will never get swept into the chute. To reduce this effect, once again I'm thinking of modding the machine by sticking on a prism-shaped wedge on each of the sweeper arms to direct the majority of the grounds one way... towards the chute. Sorry, but I cannot answer on the suitability of this machine for espresso; my experience is way too narrow to give a real opinion on the matter. |

QUOTE(ycs @ Apr 15 2016, 12:25 PM) I'm using an E61 group machine. On a side note, commissioned some work to Dave from HB forum to customize some wood for my machine. After 11 months of wait, it's finally done. From the pic, it's worth the wait I must say His page is here: http://www.home-barista.com/marketplace/cu...ine-t10642.html Attached thumbnail(s) |
