It's region free and it definitely has component and HDMI. But take note that using component won't give you anything higher than 480P/576i.

That's definitely dynamic constrast ratio and even Sharp's 4ms refresh rate is measured grey to grey and not black to white. Some figures are misleading, the best is Toshiba, they only mentioned that their constrast ratio at 1200:1 and the latest W68 model at 1000:1, but dun be fooled by their figures, they're actually better looking than the rest of the pack.

Dear Bros Bysquashy, Sunauto

Comparatively speaking, can the Toshiba holds it ground against the Sharp. Am considering the 42 for either brand although the Samsung 40 R series look like an art. ALready got the Bravia S from Sony for my bedroom and looking for a 42 for my living room. hmm.gif

Denon DVD-1930 is a good buy, its scaling circuit supports up to 1080p not just 1080i.

Tested it. If you are a Origina DVD fan, go ahead... if pirate fan, then, better stick with something "local"

The best advice I would give is you have to see the PQ for yourself. Best PQ is always subjective. Some units works better for digital signal, on the other hand, some works for analog signal.

Yes, choosing a LCD TV is quite subjective. Even at the shops some brands like Sony and Samsung has their own specialised players feeding a very good quality picture to their units. Every where you go, their units will look very good.

Try to compare where they have the same demo playing on different brands, so that you can get a better idea.

Even then, depending on which unit the shop is promoting, they will optimise those units to look better than others.

For e.g when I was browsing around for the 37" LG unit, which I eventually bought, I noticed that one HSL shop in the city only connected the single yellow composite cable to all the LG units. Needless to say the quality was bad compared to other brands which had component cables connected.

The Toshiba Regza I presume is quite a popular choice. It has the advantage of backlight control which can be really useful and the price of the 37" was only about RM 450+ more than the 37" LG I bought at that time.

It's not an issue because if you're using Bravia X, 1080i will converted to 1080p by the Plasma / LCD tv's internal video scaler as these HDTV panels only except progressive signals. So to be honest, 1080i or 1080p is not an issue but of course, the 1930's video scaler is of course better than the internal video scaler used by your HDTV panel.
