anyway just came back from another round of visitation to shops.
looks like i'm getting the Toshiba Regza W66.

Congrats Goldfries. Well, if you have the budget, do try getting Wireworld Chroma 5.2 or Ultraviolet 5.2 HDMI cables from htkaki, those HDMI cables will make a lot of difference if you have an upscale dvd player, PS3 or a HD player. A good partner with the Toshiba. Me saving money now, got a couple of stuff wanna get from htkaki especially those Wirewold stuff. Hahaha.

Yes, don't be fool by those figures that manufacturers claimed esp dynamic contrast ratio. I have hard time explaining it to some ppl.
That's true, like Samsung's upcoming R8 and M8 series, they claimed a constrast ratio of 8000:1 and 15000:1 respectively but I strongly believe that the actual constrast ratio is probably 1500:1 to 2000:1 the most, very unlikely at those figures. Even for a plasma tv, some reviewers pointed out that the constrast ratio rated at 10000:1 is inaccurate as the actual measured constrast ratio is only 5000:1 or less. I guess the only display can achieve 10000:1 will be our old trusty CRT tvs. No displays come close to it unless Toshiba's SED TV becomes a reality one day.

from my opinion...
i dont think tat u need to look into the detials as to specifications of the tv....it is jz a marketing strategy...
try to get ur own disc...go to some place to test for it...
better go to the places tat allowed for side by side comparison...
Yup, that will be the best thing to do, always bring along a disc of your favourite movie to make comparisons, dun really on those discs from the shop, they normally use those reference quality dvds so even if the display is inferior, the picture will come out pretty okay. Sales tactics
