You can't use NTFS. Use FAT32. Also some HDD need external power for it to work.

ok, TQ Bro, will reformat my HDD, but from what i heard USB 2.0 is powered connection, means u no need to plug an external power, as long it will run on ur pc without external power, it will run on other USB 2.0 connection such as my 5996..anyway will try to reformat my HDD 1st,then will update u guys later..TQ rclxub.gif

I totally agree with u. Why do we need external power source for USB device? rolleyes.gif
In this case we need because the USB port on most DVD players can't provide enuf juice for external HDD.
Its OK with USB thumbrive. My old 7GB 2.5" HDD can run without external power. My new 40GB 2.5" can't and all my desktop HDD also can't. Not without external power. So you have to try yours smile.gif

If you're using HP's external storage media, it's entirely USB powered but majority needs an external power source. My friend is using a different method, he's using Sandisk Ultra 2 32GB SDHC with his Philips to watch his downloaded DIVX clips and movies.

rm360? u paid by cash i presume? i paid by card...so the price didnt go down...stuck at rm369...still ok though

yeah...astro cable is presume is rg56...so shud do fine...i guess if the sounds quality is good, then i guess u shud be happy with it!

did u get the rca ends at jalan pasar? how much...used to get it for like rm2 or rm3 only....the bnc to rca and F-cnnector to rca is around that price too. Oh...read somewhere last time that could use wire hangar also to deliver the digital sound...that's be cool...habislah all hanger in the house like that tongue.gif hehe

if someone could do a blind test comparing this quality with those darn expensive Monster or IXos cables...i'd love to hear the results...

btw - i hope i'm still within the topic smile.gif

That's cheap for the cables, hopefully they're the real thing as people has been buying fake Monster Cables from eBay without knowing that they're fakes.

Cash la bro..so far im sastified with quality of delivered sound, but i dont know either i could get better sound quality if i do use a high end coaxial cable or atleast the real coaxial cable available in the market since i dont do the test on the exact cox cable.

bought a phono conn at RM5/piece, 24K gold plated (but don know real gold plated or not) forsure, Q is gud and easy to terminate the cable..

What is "wire hangar" huh? icon_question.gif

Hi,
In conclusion the latest recommended DVDP are these 2, right?
1. Philips-5996K RM379
2. Sony-NS708H RM399

For those who own 5996, may I know any difference between the 5996 and 5986? And can the NS708 'Dynamic Tilt Compensation' give any advantage over 5996 in reading the street DVDs?

Thanks

I think the 5996 is the facelifted one....one thing I like abt Philips is the USB slot...if you are a download junky, using a fast USB stick is much better than waiting an eternity to burn a DVD.

Sony model I'm not familiar with.

Both are equally good in playing your fav ahem dvds. As for spare parts, Sony is easier to find.
