philips 5968 comes with giraffe hdmi cable @ rm399
sony 76 (399) and 78 (499) w/o cables

tested all 3 and their PQ almost the same but decided on the philips cos it has usb port..very convenient to view jpeg photos..and of course with the bundle hdmi cable makes my decision some much easier

cheers!!!

Do your homework first....best thing is goggle around, download its .pdf manual....or better, bring along your USB with divx files in it and try on the demo set.

Doesnt mean it from the same brand means its got the same features...you have been warned..

This one really no idea lah, maybe you can Google around and see. Nowadays, they seldom benchmark dvd players already so not much info can be obtained for the newer models. The reviewer nowadays more interested in benchmarking HD players instead.

Phillips DVP5986K can really play divx files on both CD or DVD and also USB.

However if you connnected the USB using ur External HDD, make sure it is FAT32 system. It cannot read NTFS system.

So for those with HDD more than 32GB, you have to partition ur HDD.

I've try it and it's work.

for me i barely cn see any PQ difference between 76H and 5986k. n of coz, the usb input n the supplied giraffe hdmi cable is a big plus for me, but the main reason i bought tis 5986k is bcoz it got 5.1 audio analog output.really useful for me coz i connectd the player to my edifier r501mkII tongue.gif

one more thing.. when we are playing divx/xvid file from cd/dvd/usb.. do we need to put the file in a specific folder or must be on the root location? if let say i have 2 divx file and put it under a specific folder let say abc, so how would the player detect it? will it detect the first file as track one and file 2 as track 2?
