QUOTE(piscesguy @ Dec 20 2007, 10:24 AM) I don't think its a good idea to get FULL HD at 42" and below screen size..our eyes can't really see the difference... depends on how far you wanna sit from the TV lor.. maybe some people get a kick sitting 1:1 screen distance (say 3.5-4ft) from the 42" telly and the eyes can resolve the coarse pixels if using 768p LCD tv instead of 1080p.. If we r talking really big screen >= 60" , then the difference will be obvious. |

QUOTE(Joker339 @ Jan 17 2008, 02:39 PM) Actually I agree, almost no reason to buy pirate anymore. I didn't even know that region 3 original so cheap until recently. For me, anything with the 60 bucks range I think is a reasonable price to pay for a DVD. if the pirate one transfered the entire ori region 2 or region 1 DVD to a real 8.5GB DVD9 blank, I don't think there will be any difference between video or audio quality...The only problem I have is that there is very little DTS titles around. Damn sad. don't know bcos of multi-language support, lack of space or whatever. Anyways, my view is that with a good quality DVD player, a pirate D9 has pretty good video quality. The only area I think is lacking is the audio quality tends to loose out compared to original. The Phillips for 339 + HDMI cable sounds too good to be true. I'll go and scout after work and pick it up if it's true (since my old philips kaput recently! damn sad). unless you think those DVD9 logo on the cover sold by pirates (which are 4.3GB ones) are actually real 8.5GB DVD9s.. |

and for 60 bucks, you can get blu-ray already with 6x more visual data and 96/24 master 7.1 tracks... now , don't ori local DVDs look over priced at 60??

QUOTE(sunauto @ Jan 7 2008, 04:51 PM) There are ahem D9 dvds that exceed the 5GB barrier but giving you D5 picture quality. Very easy, throw in tons of trailers, rubbish music videos and there you have it, 7GB of space, you might be fooled that it's a D9 movie but the extra space has been filled up with these rubbish materials, the actual movie itself is just a D5 movie which has been compressed. You'll see artifacts on the movie itself. A fine example is the movie 28 Weeks Later. I bought the original copy instead. don't worry, the reviewers say the PQ for bluray of this title (the 1st one) also crap.. TIER 5 -COAL- Only slightly better than DVD.Visible artifacting, softness, quality rivals upconverted DVD. 28 Days Later Video: MPEG-4 | Audio: DTS-HD MA | AR: 1.85:1 | Fox |

QUOTE(Joker339 @ Jan 17 2008, 05:49 PM) Mostly true, but I have some discs where - really - it sucks - it says DTS but can tell the sound quality is off. if you want decent DVD's then you should get Region 2 DVDs, much higher PAL resolutions than region 1 NSTC counterparts..I think not many do 1:1 transfer. Some will cut corners, reduce bit-rate, whatever. RM60 can buy blu-ray - 'almost' lah. That's true. But if you see, blu-ray and normal DVD is almost the same price in US as well. So cannot say lah. Just that we get some crazy 150 bucks lah. Nonsense. But coming, back, new movie - RM60 DVD, original, well I can't complain lah. and many are even cheaper. do I prefer cheaper - who doesn't want!!! - but I think the current pricing is reasonable. dont simply support piracy lah - unless specific reasons - DVD features, sountrack, region1 copy better, whatever. as for blu-rays costing more here... this one pandai pandai order from amazon lor.. with DHL shipping it's around 70-75ish only wot.. QUOTE(rx330 @ Jan 21 2008, 10:08 AM) yesterday wen to SG, this shop like pioneer super dealer, all the latest model of pioneer stuff dia ada, from the kuros to the LX70 line of products including the HTP LX70 (some sort of HTIB (excl dvd) but does trueHD and HD MA) yesterday reading feb issue, one of the top US AV mag, pitting a 768p Kuro plasma 50inch against a top range sammy 1080p LCD using LED backlight...my wife pijak me kaw kaw, say my panny kalers sucks compare to hte pioneer , and reprimnaded me for not going for the pioneer... i saw side by side comparison btwn the pioneer (7th gen) and a sammy or sharp, one scen with full black background and a rose in the middle... the LCD has blue greyish kaler for the black background..... average kuro got 9.5/10 and sammy got 8/10 even though the kuro got only 1366x768p, they say LCD still no fight.. sorry pal, back to the drawing board... in fact due to the superb picture quality and contrast ratio of the kuro, it has more perceived image details (at 768p) than the 1080p LCD.. only instance where LCD looks more detailed is when sitting nearer than 6ft.. above that sitting distance, the kuro has more PQ and detail. |
