Just bought Phillips DVP5986K from ESH in Klang at RM390 and hooked it up to my Sharp 37A53M..

Played few dvd using the HDMI and upscale it to 1080i and the picture you can really see the difference compared using only the component video cable.

However, can you play divx movies from the USB port? Try it yesterday with my external hard drive, but no success.

Phillips DVP5986K can really play divx files on both CD or DVD and also USB.

However if you connnected the USB using ur External HDD, make sure it is FAT32 system. It cannot read NTFS system.

So for those with HDD more than 32GB, you have to partition ur HDD.

I've try it and it's work.

when you put your USB or cd/dvd with divx files, the philips 5986k will display a directory of the CD/DVD/USB content on ur TV and what you need to do next is just select the folder where you store the file and select on the file you want to play. However, it will not show the whole file name coz if i not mistaken only 10 characters will be displayed.
