Most HDMI upconvert player also able to upconvert to 720p or 1080i on non-copied protected DVD on component. (i.e. ahem DVD should be able to upconvert) |

QUOTE(runemastertan @ Jan 21 2008, 12:34 AM) I saw a 32A53 on astro, and damn it's nice, at least it;s better than toshiba and other brands. I don;t get to see the 42" model, but I asked the salesman and he says the quality should be about the same, although I kinda doubt it a little bit. My opinion - go audition the tv and see which one you like. Yes, astro on 32A53 is suprisingly good. Almost makes me feel i'm watching on my SONY 29" CRT with DRC100. And i'm only using a split RF going over a long distance, maybe 20 foot cable or more. I think if i can use S-VIDEO it'll look nicer. |

Anyone manage to test between sony x series with sharp a63?
I went to best denki at klcc the bd that they are playing in sharp area is grainy. I saw the POTC on sony x, it totally blows my mind. You can even see the diff between x and w series. no wonder the price is like, WTF.... |

QUOTE(rx330 @ Jan 21 2008, 10:08 AM) yesterday wen to SG, this shop like pioneer super dealer, all the latest model of pioneer stuff dia ada, from the kuros to the LX70 line of products including the HTP LX70 (some sort of HTIB (excl dvd) but does trueHD and HD MA) HAHA.. you've got a good wife!!!my wife pijak me kaw kaw, say my panny kalers sucks compare to hte pioneer , and reprimnaded me for not going for the pioneer... i saw side by side comparison btwn the pioneer (7th gen) and a sammy or sharp, one scen with full black background and a rose in the middle... the LCD has blue greyish kaler for the black background..... Mine the exact opposite. I have to convince her the Pioneer picture better... She see and see... 'all the same wut...' Anyways, I just told her I can see the difference - so bought lah!! hahaha Moral of the story (both ways) - let the 'fussier' (in terms of IQ) partner make the choice! The other person not going to notice the difference Added on January 21, 2008, 1:55 pm QUOTE(azbro @ Jan 21 2008, 09:52 AM) Hi, plasma have reflective displays, but manufacturers have cut down on the glare oledi. Yeah, I think sometimes ppl over emphasize this reflective thingi... pls go and take a look at your CRT. SURE got reflection even if it's the top-of-line/most-expensive-CRT-on-the-market (I mean TV).Best if you go to those mega stores and check them out yourself before you judge plasmas to be glary. Panasonic and Pioneer plasma are good examples of plasmas with anti glare coating or filters. If you are into Astro and DVDs...get plasmas... LCD are also good, but if you happen to have kids at home, hehe.. the first thing you should teach them is not use a pen/color pencil/crayon on the screen, that will ruin your set. Children got alot of imagination...hehe... So remember, many ppl didn't complain until it comes out in the pros and cons of LCD vs Plasma. Having said that, yes, there will be times you need to exercise room lighting control. TV placement helps as well. I have thick curtains in my TV room that I can bring down when necessary, but I usually find no issues, except if I sit on the floor and play PS3 lah! BTW - this doesn't mean reflection doesn't exist - it does - but what I am saying is that 'most' people shouldn't take this as their primary consideration. You can even see the diff between x and w series. no wonder the price is like, WTF.... Too bad it's so damn expensive. And to buy 40" is really no point (to me anyways). Want full HD - better buy 50" or above. This post has been edited by Joker339: Jan 21 2008, 01:59 PM |

Hi everyone,
Thanks for all the feedback. I have seen the Panny plasma and did not like the glare. The Pioneer Kuro was good, but so was the high price! I have difficulty to find shops that display 42" with Astro. My budget is around RM5k. Hence, I considered only these few: Sony KLV-40S310A Toshiba 42A3500 Sharp LC42BX5M Sharp LC42PX5M Samsung LA40S81B LG 42LC7R Any owners of these sets, can you feedback on PQ of Astro and DVD? Also, does anyone know how much is the Sharp LC42A53? Thanks |
