There is a Rogers DV525 upconverting DVD player, which able to upconvert via component and HDMI. I have tested the component at 720p and also 1080i on my projector. This DVD player is available at Desa in LYP. I have opened up the cover and saw ZORAN 776 on it. The beauty is it is able to upconvert over component for copy-protected disc and also lesser ahem disc. |

Leolabs Thanks for the great workout! Decoding chipset (Mediatek's MT1389 HE): Confirmed with Philips Malaysia 2 weeks ago. Unfortunately this unit does not have an optical out for DD/dts. It has only the coaxial digital out, and my receiver only takes has optical in. Please get us a review..... It is supposed to be from the same family of DVP5982 in the USA. |

QUOTE(saiga @ Nov 29 2007, 01:46 AM) As you can see, when I checked mine,it In Malaysia, all DVD players are set to all region by the manufacturers even their Globe Sticker showed Region 3. Otherwise, consumers will be bring in the DVD players to complaint that their players can't even play original DVD from Region 1 or other region.already been set to "0" . Funny coz on the box it stated region "3". While in other county such as US users there have to 'hack' the region code thing using the steps above before can play dvd from different region does that means Phillips Mesia know that if order to sell the player here must be able to play 'ahem' dvd? p/s :same with other manufacturer perhaps ? Eventhough most players are set to play all Region (Flagged to Region 0) some DVD players can't play those with Region 1 RCE disc. A world map with all the DVD official regions will be displayed. Be aware. This post has been edited by karyeowl: Nov 29 2007, 08:31 AM |

Most HDMI upconvert player also able to upconvert to 720p or 1080i on non-copied protected DVD on component. (i.e. ahem DVD should be able to upconvert) |

Anyone knows the best price for Pioneer DV410S? That unit is very similar to Philips 5996. It has USB ver2.0, and all the upcpnverting etc. Most of all, it also has an optical output. My older digital amp only takes in optical (NO coaxial) |

QUOTE(sunauto @ Jul 7 2008, 10:46 PM) Which HSL is selling this model 5986 at RM290?I called the Klang branch and he told me the price is RM399. Surprise... HSL has 5996 in their database at RM370. Klang Branch doesn't have stock for 5996. At RM370... maybe it is a good buy. Pioneer 410S is going for RM540. Pricey. |
