QUOTE(lukenn @ Mar 5 2016, 08:30 PM) Tried to get as close as I can to your portfolio. Proxy RHB Dana Hazzem with RHB Kidsave. It used to be RHB Dana Kidsave. Dont have you RHB REgional fund either. A bit too new. [attachmentid=6120173] So what's the conclusion? Let me try 😅 1. Consolidate the Malaysian equity funds? I'd drop shariah aggressive, too volatile 2. Move some to bond funds? 3. Put more in Asia pac funds 😈

QUOTE(HarpArtist @ Mar 6 2016, 10:55 AM) myr strengthening, danger of forex losses? Yes. Biggest risk at the moment would be RHB Asian total return fund cos it's a bond fund. Doesn't follow stock market rally that's happening at the moment For the equity funds, if you entered early this year, maybe not as bad, since you would gain from the market rally But if you bought at the highest point last year .... 😓

As Benjamin Graham once pointed out, “In the short run, the market is a voting machine but in the long run, it is a weighing machine”. Price movements in the equity markets tend to be noisy in the short term, acting like a barometer of investor sentiment and reflecting investors’ current “false perception” of the market situation. One common pitfall that investors make is that they often gather “intelligence” from the market fluctuations and refer to it to tell them what to do with their investments. Instead of doing so, investors should utilise market fundamentals as a basis for their investment decisions. Over the long term, the financial market will tend to mirror the underlying fundamentals of the economic situation. The two star articles are posted on the same day i.e., Monday, 7th March 2016.
Two articles with two conflicting "information". One says M'sia economy is slowing down = an ominous news indeed.
The other says foreign funds are coming in.... contradicting the other article.
As a lay / retail - investor; I too would be confused with these contradicting news.
So how?
Luckily I got Algozen as a compass for me... and it says buy Malaysia exposed UT two weeks ago and it tells me the most optimum exposure is at 25 to 35% based on the risk - adjusted performance.
