RHB GIFT VS EISC70%+EIBF30%
*
hmm.gif from the chart,....
I think "better" use EI over GIFT
my reason is....at 70%SC.....not much different for both.
but GIFT has a mandate of Max 70%SCap
if/when the valuation of M'sian Small caps if much below the fair value.....with EI we can shift the allocation to more SC vs FI ratio. else maintain at 50~70% at normal times

Thanks for the much appreciated input....
simple to follow and effective.

just not so sure about this "Once its decided, there will be no "switching" of entire funds in and out of the portfolio, unless ...." blush.gif

hmm.gif but some would argue..."why no show back tested the results to include some global funds for a more diversified portfolio"... rolleyes.gif

Some should do their own homework lor. The spreadsheet is already there. The data is freely available. Wanna make money, work for it lor.

Anyway, its not about the ability to curve fit a portfolio to maximize returns, but to deliver decent gains over a long period with minimal cost and effort.
*
for those that wanted to do back testing up until 2006,...can try using the FUND RETURNS tool from FSM website to get the returns....
pls note that...the entry point for data compilation may alter the value of the returns....eventhough it is still a 12 months period.

FSM wants us to believe that if we don't attend the seminar, we won't get the promotional rate.
But in reality, their system is probably not smart enough to know whether we are there.
*
Just hope what you said is true...
I remembered, got 1 time recently, they used a very simple system....they hand out discount voucher in the form of password number...
one need to key in the password to get the discount....no need smart system...

Dear all sifus,

Just wondering, since we are recommended to park our cash in CMF2, but we are charged GST for it, isn't it better to park in FD then?
*
can you please give an example in calculation, how is this GST being charged in CMF2?

cool - U have the Midas touch IF U do it properly then.
eg
U have $100 to invest in stocks
1. Buy into stock A with $10
2. Stock falls like stone
3. When 20-30% down, buy in another $30
4. IF down another 20-30%, buy in another $30
5. IF down another 20-30%, in with your last $30
6. IF down again.. sui la THUS best do this with ETFs (basket of stocks), to ensure winning hand  drool.gif

the very essence of reversion to mean + time is on your hands with the above,
thus probability of winning is HIGH

hmm.gif the HELPs to your concerns had been answered (PEACE for 3 months)

BEIJING — Chinese regulators have renewed restrictions on the amount of stock major corporate shareholders can sell as authorities move to allay panic among equity investors.

Starting Jan 9, major investors are permitted to sell no more than 1% of a company’s shares on the open market in three months, the China Securities Regulatory Commission said in a statement on Thursday.

Bottom Line.....Defensive Avenues For Volatile Times

It can be heart-wrenching to see the value of your assets decline significantly during bouts of volatility in the equity market.
While such tumultuous times are usually not hoped for, there is no need for investors to despair.
Apart from shifting their money into more defensive assets to insulate against significant losses, keeping calm can also help investors ride out the volatility, rather than making knee-jerk reactions (panicking) that usually do not work out well as intended.
It is also important for investors to diversify their portfolios across a wide array of asset classes, as well as geographies as it is difficult to know with certainty how asset classes or geographical markets will perform in the future..

hi guys, any idea why is AmAsia Pacific Equity Income fund so volatile? Drop so much compared to other funds e.g. CIMB Asia Pacific Dynamic Income Fund, Kenanga Asia Pacific Total Return Fund.. regretted choosing this fund.
*
AmAsia Pacific Equity Income fund has the highest 3 yr Annualised Volatility(%) among the 3.
it is at 12.75 compared to 7.65 of CIMB.
btw,...why do you select it rather than CIMB?
