It's wrong to get update a week earlier for the new rom before they officially list it in their website. It is as they treat us as beta tester.

All android devices including Xiaomi wont release beta rom OTA. If beta rom they will stated the rom is beta like develope rom. I understand why u say this cause Xiaomi update always got problem. U didnt notice why so many people asking which ever a new update release OTA got issue or not. This is Xioami style, i dont like this style also. They didnt test properly or maybe for other reason, no one knows I owned Mi3, Redmi Note and now Redmi Note 2.....same style. Which ever a new update especialy for a new launch device sure got issue. But 1 thing good about miui is their update is super fast....once got problem they will fix it asap. U also not wrong....xiaomi treat us as a tester This post has been edited by mulut99: Dec 8 2015, 12:29 AM |

If you flash the Hong Kong official rom 7.0.7.0. you will get the update to 7.0.12.0 and this already exist about 1 week ago. Now only officially listed , why don't they listed it up 1 week ago ? Why need to delay 1 week ? What are they thinking ?

I think regional fraction in updates is indeed normal among Android smartphones.
Most of the time, homeland for respective brand will gets it first. Unlike Apple, they update iOS for all supported devices and regions in one shot. This post has been edited by Xierra777: Dec 8 2015, 01:20 AM |

I don't know about other brand but the correct procedure is the rom had to be officially listed at the manufacturer website before anyone get an update irrespective of homeland or oversea customers. How can you push the update 1 week earlier before the official listing ? This is very confusing for some user , example , they heard friends said already got update to new rom but you can't find the new rom at the official website. Most of the time, homeland for respective brand will gets it first. Xiaomi assumes everyone is using local set which is pre-loaded with same firmware so everyone will get OTA around the same time. Those who bought import sets with slightly different firmware and wondering why they get the updates faster is their own fault, not Xiaomi. It doesn't matter if Xiaomi decides to upload the file on website or not as long as the ROM is already approved stable and safe by developers. The listed ones usually for those who wants to download older ROM and downgrade to previous version if by any chance they're not happy with current ROM I know the system isn't flawless, but one should expect this imperfection from a barely 5 years old company that didn't take too much profit out of their products to actually able to hire better employees like other tier 1 companies. So, I guess this is not a big deal. You paid a very reasonable price for such an amazing smartphone for its class. Don't expect premium service for cheap. Bro, even Samsung uploads the full actual ROM file on its website only after they sent to all OTA around the globe. Most manufacture does this too. OTA comes first. To upload full ROM to website isn't as mandatory as to test and get stability approval of ROM before giving to users (be it OTA, web or wtv) This argument is going nowhere unless you file a complain to Xiaomi about your dissatisfaction in updates to sooth yourself. Samsung is so hightech and powerful that they treat their customers as fool who don't know how to download and install rom from their website. That's why they push the update to you automatically. They don't expect you to know about their phone technically. And 1 more thing , how often do samsung update their phone ?

It's not treat fool to customer, this is user friendly ecosystem I'm so glad that you were born super smart, but not everyone in the world is tech geek and not relying on OTA for updates. If you think Xiaomi is for advance users, might as well they pull off that OTA update app huh? Well, my brother's A7 gets update twice in a month. Less updates than xiaomi because it doesn't suffer "google play issues" and whatsoever. This post has been edited by Xierra777: Dec 8 2015, 03:11 AM |
