QUOTE(etigge @ Aug 5 2016, 08:09 AM) This was the same model and colour of the Raleigh Chopper that I ride to school in the 76s. Those days it cost RM265.00 ( a normal Ah Soh bike was only RM65.00 then ). This is already the Mark 2, second edition. You can differentiate it because Mk 2 has the handlebar swept forward. I saw one or two in Mudah.my but they were not complete and mostly have the their gear box missing. They are selling it for quite a sum as well. For those really who really wants attention, I can bet you, you will get the most attention if you ride one , refurbished in Car Free Day. Guaranteed! Bromptons are getting too common nowadays. The 3 speed Sturmey Archers are not a problem as they are not very much different from those in Brompton nowadays. But Sturmey Archer has been taken over by a Taiwanese company already so they are not made in UK anymore. This is the Mark 1. Higher rear which was useless actually, maybe carry another friend at the back But if we sit too far back to recline, the front of the bikes comes up very fast! And last year, Raleigh did a small production of limited units to satisfy the request of many former Chopper riders. Only last year they did it in limited numbers. But they looked different. Fascinating 😁😁

As they are made of hard plastic, they break easily. May have to find some modern ones which would be far more robust. In any case, the bike will never be ridden in the rain

haiz… never ending buying accessories, front rear light, bottle, bottle bracket, lock, top tube beg, new handlebar to remedy poor bike fit,…… on and on and on… this how it look now
the apek handlebar raised about 3~4 inches and the adjustable stem raised to the max. tonight 30km ride to test if it works to remedy my back pain. more like a cruiser now with the sweep back…

Read quite a few articles on cycling lane in shah alam. Plan to go there either tomorrow or Sunday to get some exercise. Does anybody know where is the best parking area?

Been cycling around Shah Alam track lately. Like you, I over planned everything the 1st time round. now I just drive around and park wherever there is a car park space within line of sight of the bicycle track. Anywhere is fine, janji free parking and got space.

Have been thinking of getting 2 more foldies (husband and wife lah as usual) , just for strolling around Taiping and maybe Komuter-ing to Butterworth and Penang. I saw 2 of this Giant Halfway being sold in Ipoh and since my MTBs are Giant, was thinking of getting the same brand. Haven't check the price yet but they fold more narrower than Dahon or Tern because the Giant Halfway has monostay and monofork, meaning the chainstay is only one sided and so is the fork! Probably won't be modding as well because Taiping is practically flat and if I need for hill rides, still have the velos and mtbs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vkaubw-LGE0

I enjoy night riding, no scorching sun, cool air, lesser traffic and more… BUT one need lighting to ensure survival… been observing what follow riders using and what are available in the market,; one can just use any light (like I did) too dim cannot see, bright one need more battery, or too bright oso irritates fallow riders… http://road.cc/content/buyers-guide/175884...mparison-enginea nice guide

Went riding at GCE, the apek handlebar worked really well, lesser back & neck sore. The sweep back is also very nice, I think this helped my wrist and elbow a lot. The extra 6 in length over the old straight bar gave more control too. whole body even my torso got their share of workout… now that I don't over-stretch, the body weight shifted to the rear significantly, my butt get more rubbing… Panas and sakit… still can tahan ler… Confirm my legs and lung not strong as I wished…

Unfortunately, it is way too low geared. Mine uses freewheel so I couldnt find a replacement with a 11t sprocket. I hope they have improved the bike after all these years. It is a solid bike but heavy.

I hope they have improved the bike after all these years. It is a solid bike but heavy. According to the Giant dealer in Ipoh, the last batch was 8 speed, then they switch back to 7 speed So there is an 8 speed which I can convert to 10 or 11 speed too if you get the latest cogs that have 11 speed on a 8,9 or 10 speed hub. The mono sided hubs makes modding to more gears difficult. If you are looking for 7 speed, 11 tooth freewheel sprocket, Epoch makes them. http://www.ebay.com/itm/DNP-EPOCH-7-SPEED-...L-/321840071826This post has been edited by etigge: Aug 15 2016, 08:54 AM

Hi sifus,
Would like ur opinion on dahon MU Uno. How is this model. Is the single gear coaster brake system reliable and maintenance free in long run?..Is it any issue maintaining it?... Any body has any experience on it?...

Remember thinking it wasn't very high quality item, like Shimano. In the end it suited my sister so it is now sitting in a cupboard somewhere....

etigge did mention Taiping is flat and might not need to do anything to the gear… and he has his regular stable to turn to if the need arises. repaint and have custom hot rod graphics with flame, skeleton… etc
