Quick question, where can I buy a good headset for the Dahon in KL? Are the Litepro ones genuine? Haha
*
There are many fake Litepro around but then how do we distinguish one from the other rclxub.gif All of them are light. You can get a good seal bearing from GW Cycle Boutique in Kota Kemuning. I have actually use the normal integrated headset for mountain bikes on the Dahons and it does fit except you got to use a few old parts like the top cover and probably the spacer from the old headset. The bearing holder and the sealed bearing can fit into the 44mm headtube of the folding bike.

laugh.gif But the mountain bike headset is more expensive than the folding bike ones. So, makes no sense unless you have a spare old unit lying around.

Still best choice is GW Cycle. thumbup.gif

Isn't it a shame these days that we don't really know what we buy is the real thing or a fake. Or perhaps it was produced by the same factory anyway?

GW Cycles looks good. I should pay them a visit in a few weeks time and check out the bikes. Didn't know they have Birdys. Do they allow test rides? 🤔

Many years ago, GW was an importer for those container bicycles from Japan. Slowly they became an agent for Pedalsport. One of the brands then was Pacific Cycles which are IF Reach and Birdys. Later when Pedalsport gave up the franchise, GW took over and now they even have the President of Pacific Cycles visiting them. GW successfully maintained what Pedalsport failed to do. Now Pedalsport is the franchised importer for Bromptons but their main interest are SRAM and Rockshox.

I am sure you can test ride. You can use Fei Lee's or Phoebe's own bike.

Wow, you certainly know people in the business eh?

BTW is Rodalink's prices generally good? I'm going to get a couple of Schwalbe tyres if they are cheaper in KL. Can't decide to just replace the back Big Apple or replace both with Marathon Supremes. I know Marathon Plus is probably best but I don't do that many kms, so I think the Supremes would be fine.

Sifu etigge have been helpful in my previous modding endeavor smile.gif But now i want to ask everyone here.
I have reading online a lot but couldn't find any answer. Is it possible to convert my existing brake system to caliper brake & still use the sks mudguard?

Why don't you try it out? There's a few factors involve. What size tyre will you use? Is there a provision to use caliper brakes on your fork? Some brake caliper will have longer arms to suit the fork you have. The mudguard is usually bolted through the caliper bolt anyway, but if you are using wider tyres, then it may not fit.

I've never tried myself as I found the V-brakes more than sufficient.

Well I've taken the Speed TR for a longer ride after adjusting all the clamps and headset. Rides much tighter now. The ride is very supple as you would expect from a Speed, but more so now with the Big Apple tyres. I might have jumped the gun a bit dismissing those wide tyres. They are actually not too bad. Soaks up bump etc very well, so much so it felt like having suspension!

The Speed TR is never going to win races, but at touring speed, 20kmh or so, it makes sense. Push it and you will tire yourself out, ride it at the sweet spot and you can go forever. My Bike Friday Tikit is much faster with its 16" wheels, but the ride is harsh compared to the TR.

I will stick with the Big Apples as they actually weigh less than the Marathon/Marathon Plus. To lighten the bike a bit, I'll just replace the seat pump post and remove the front frack. I may even try and get a new front wheel and not bother with the dynamo hub and I seldom ride at night. I think that should just put enough sparkle into the bike!

I'm intending to tour next year.

I'm thinking of having a front load instead of a back load. Pros and cons?

Am using a Dahon Speed D8/P8. Am in the midst of getting all the stuff that I'll need. Intending to tour from March 2016.

hello, question about general bike, non folding.

I wanna ask, if classic bike like this, usually only single gear. is it possible to make it to have gears? for climbing general housing area hilly places:

Attached Image

I always like the classic look but usually they only have single speed.
