Would u rather buy new Tern Link B7 at 1360 or used MU P8 at 1200? For me newbie the entry link b7 look tempting but MU P8 got better spec right?

QUOTE(desastar @ Dec 10 2015, 06:46 PM) I would definitely buy a used higher end model rather than a new entry model. You get better/nicer parts. It is only a bicycle, so don't worry if it is a few years old. Make sure the frame is not damage, hinges ok, and everything else is adjustable. final deal done @ 1k. thx sifu for advice, think I m going to like it, even this one actually for my princess...You buy a entry model, then upgrade, you will definitely over-spend and definitely lose money. owned by lady, din take care of it real good.. QUOTE(desastar @ Dec 13 2015, 07:40 PM) OK the lady obviously did not look after the bike too well. I would give it a good clean and polish and good oiling. Looks like it has been left outdoors? Check if gear changes smoothly as the cables may have stretched and the RD is a bit rusted. Are the rims running true and brakes OK? If she hadn't used it much, the folding clamps should be tight. Just check. Luckily all clamps, gears, brakes working fine. I only own single gear bike so dun know how to describe whether gear shift smooth or not. I used IPA cleaned up stain on body but having tough time remove those tiny black dot on rear wheel, any suggestion? |

QUOTE(etigge @ Dec 15 2015, 10:58 AM) You still need a cassette opening tool. The one shown is just to hold the cassette. And also you need a spanner wide enough to unlock the cassette opener. I hv a big spanner, is lockring is standard size for all bikes? Or bike specific?I saw on YouTube like that tool(cassette holder)+ spanner only Sorry totally noob on bike, used to just let bike shop fix everything. QUOTE(mscw88 @ Dec 15 2015, 01:03 PM) Sifu here said buy only tern or Dahon. I just paid 1k for used Dahon, it was almost zero maintainance other than some chain lubed. I can assure u the bike critical parts can still keep up quite good, all clamps, brakes, gear still excellent condition. It oso got both grips bar end scratched but it didn't cause handling ride any issue...overall I think it is a good buy. Shiok sendiri. Lol Only thing I think could be better is the cloudy white frame, payah to keep clean lo. This post has been edited by 266K: Dec 16 2015, 08:08 PM |

All quiet here??
Noob question, if I swap out the 8-speed cassette 11-32T with a 9-speed one, without chg shifter or chain, that still workable right? just that I won't get the 34T. This post has been edited by 266K: Dec 17 2015, 11:38 AM |

QUOTE(etigge @ Dec 22 2015, 02:32 PM) Have you crossed the 2nd bridge? Bicycles are banned from using the bridge, as far as I know. Got it. ThxAs for the chain, you going to ruin the extra chain length if you take out one by one. Set the RD at the smallest cog and the front chainring (you got only one chainring). Just adjust the length where the chain doesn't touch the RD cage. As long as possible but not touching the RD cage when it is at the smallest cog. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=QuhHn7HaZcQ |

QUOTE(desastar @ Dec 29 2015, 06:31 PM) Ok, I don't know how you guys do it. I hired a bike to cycle around in Georgetown this morning at 10am and it soooo hot. I was completely drenched in just an hour, and the traffic was so bad. Wanted to cycle by the ocean but ran out of time. I think I'll bring my own bike next time. It is summer time ala Penang Island... Dropped by Chin Aik. Nice shop but no parts for upgrades? still remember how I cycled from Tg Tokong to Greenland everyday during school year, not so many car those days. |
