QUOTE(daylight_dancer @ May 15 2016, 03:44 PM) Did you sit for the general one or the academic version? I heard from some that the general one is tougher. To me, it was just tiring as they tend to cram all 4 components in 1 day. I sat for both as I needed both. And no, the general is definitely easier. For the speaking module it is roughly the same but they ask a lot more detailed questions in academic. For reading, i completed the test in 30-40 minutes in general and took up almost 50-60 minutes for academic. Listening is easier for general as well. Writing is roughly the same I feel. So general is definitely easier in my opinion. Also for the writing, I was told beforehand - try to be consistent and elaborate whatever points you make; more examples, sentences in punctuated and to watch your grammar. If you have an extensive vocabulary, use it. Speaking- also was told to not answer in a single sentence, speak more, explain more. My examiner asked me about my best friend, so I had plenty of stuff to talk about I honestly don't think you need to hire a tutor. British Council provided me with links to their system so I could gauge what to expect. Okay thanks! Planning to retake soon..! |

QUOTE(DarReNz @ May 15 2016, 04:50 PM) xoxlifestyle100 once you got your PR and landed in oz land it also depends on your luck how fast you can secure a job but one thing for sure connections are important meaning if you know someone such as manager in that company you can even get a job whether it's related or not related to your profession without an interview, this way is much easier and quicker compared to using recruiters which have many layers for you to get through. if you gone through recruiters make sure you don't give a chance to the recruiters to throw your cv into the bin, meaning don't stuff up your cv and cover letter cool! Thanks! |

QUOTE(xoxlifestyle100 @ May 15 2016, 03:36 PM) 1. You should learn how to respect people. It's very unsightly to see someone belittle another person and then tramp on the possibly and unproven difficulties of a person by your standards which is not even the focus of my post. Hello... You are absolutely right. I can confirm that you do not need 3 years of work experience to get 189 for accountant. You accounting degree from Monash is sufficient to get a positive skill assessment from Cpa. I think a lot of people including some migration agents do not understand that the work experience falls under the employment assessment category which is an optional / complementary assessment by Cpa/icaa/ipa if you want to claim additional points for pr application purposes.2. To answer your question. I have nothing. I said after graduation I am looking to apply 189 or 489. (I definitely can't apply for 190 so that is out of the question as that requires state nomination). But I am a little short handed to apply for 189 as I need all band 8 in Ielts General to have enough points. However, for 489 would be possible and I have all the documents ready. So I am contemplating whether to sit for ielts again for 189 or not as there is a clear regional limitation to 489. Btw the 489 visa allows you to apply for 887 (PR) if you meet the requirement. 3. Personally, I too don't think Monash Graduates deserve high regards, so we can agree on that. Cheers. All you need to do is focus on your ielts to get a band 8 and pray they don't change any rules for accountants... i heard rumours that accoutant may need 65 points instead of 60 to get invitation. you may want to check further on this. I would think that you should take ielts to get a band 8 and put in your application asap. The rules changes every year and the best way is still to secure your pr asap. Employment wise, it may take some time to get a job in your field but there are any cafes and restaurant around for you to take up a temporary job which would pay enough for you to live comfortably while waiting to get a permanent job. All the best! This post has been edited by evieta: May 16 2016, 06:24 AM |

Unless you're not planning to settle down there, then you can opt for a long holiday with part time like kutip apple. |

Honestly, i don't have any tips. Just deposit your resume and if there are any openings providing you're the right candidate, they'll contact you which could probably take up to couple of months time. This is just based on my personal experience and also would be my first time stepping in to Australia. I have no idea how it looks like over there as well. |

Yup.. praying very hard too since this coming July 1st is gonna be sort of like my "judgement day" as my Monash results is only releasing on the 11th June. And yes, I have also heard rumours saying Accountants may need 65 points.. Yeah, that's one of the option I'm considering, just a little afraid that I may not be able to land a permanent job related to my degree is what makes me hesitate/uncertain or perhaps insecurity you may name it. Thanks! |

Yeah do that and in your resume it'd be Engineer --> pick apple for a year --> job you apply afterwards. I bet Asian employers don't like this. |

QUOTE(xoxlifestyle100 @ May 15 2016, 12:03 PM) Hi there, I'm sorry but may you clarify how exactly I wouldn't qualify for the 189 requirement or the 489?. Please elaborate.. Have you check up the Skill Assessment by CPA/ICAA/CA (the skill assessment bodies for migration for accountancy roles)? And what requirement will I fulfill exactly if i have worked in SG/MY for at least 1-2 years? Also, please take note I am applying right after graduation (or results) in case I haven't state that clearly. No way u can get 189/190 with your current situation. Trust me. Please read the skill assessment 1st. My wife is chartered accountant but she's not using her pro as primary applicants as is much harder. so using mine as primary coz my professional requirement is lower. Thanks for your advice regardless! Thanks and cheers. Point contribution on experience:- Aust:- 1 year = 5 points 3 years = 10 points 5 years = 15 points Overseas:- 3 years = 5 points 5 years = 10 points 8 years = 15 points My case is i claimed 15 points based on my malaysia working experience which is 9 years. I'm not trying to pour you cold water but you're unlikely to get any visa approval. My advice is get as many working experience as possible. Don't worry, the point system and requirement always change. Plenty of chance to apply. |
