Start by visiting the immi website to see whether you qualify for their point system (min requirement 60 points). If you do, then you can DIY your own application or get an approved agent to do it for you.

Feel free to ask any questions here.

Speaking of which, I am a law grad from UK (but Malaysian) and here is my score point

Age: 30 pts
English language competency level: 10 pts
Overseas skilled employment in nominated skilled occupation or a closely related skilled occupation: not quite sure
Australian skilled employment in nominated skilled occupation or a closely related skilled occupation (The maximum points awarded for any combination of overseas and Australian skilled employment is 20 points): not quite sure
Educational qualifications: Bachelor 15 pts
Australian study qualification: N/A
Other factors: N/A
Nomination/Sponsorship: N/A

So far 55 pts. Should be able to obtain 60.

What did I miss out? I have not studied/worked in Aussie before.

Few options,
Note: These are not professional advice but just advising based on experience.

I) Get band 8 in IELTS to obtain that extra 10 points
II) Check for state sponsorship, this will give you extra 5 points if your occupation is in the state sponsorship list.
III) Do a professional year (Not sure if it applies to law) to get the extra 5 points
IV) If all else fails, look into the option of graduate visa for overseas students to see if they recognise your university. Bank your luck in Aussie for 18 months to see if you can land yourself a job and apply for PR afterwards.

Guys correct me if anything above is incorrect or the information has since changed.

Congrats!

Yes, you are right. You can start your own application via http://www.border.gov.au/Busi/Empl/skillselect

Though, before starting that, please prepare all the required evidence for the points that you are claiming, it will definitely help in expediting the process.

Age group, one year Aussie experience and English. Was fortunate to be sponsored working visa directly after graduation, so took the opportunity to work a year prior to applying PR.

just talk whatever is relevant to the topic, there's no right or wrong answer... e.g.
examiner: hi, captivesim, where do you live?

instead of just answering, "subang jaya..."
try elaborating more like, "i live in subang jaya, have you been there before? the traffic there is horrendous"
something like that...

Did my studies for four years and started working 3 years ago. So a total of 7 years in Perth. Sounds pretty long already. How about yourself?

Age + job experience + academic qualifications + IELTS score + state sponsorship
They excluded the time spent at an Aussie Uni.

which stage are you in? EOI or visa application?

EOI invitation depends on your points
Visa application can take a month to 6 months or more in some cases
