QUOTE(ms749 @ Jun 30 2016, 04:28 PM) But with that salary should be comfortable already right, assuming your wife goes to work as well. She does. But still so little breathing space financially speaking after all the commitments (housing loan included). Having a children is not even an option for now. Got to find more source of income definitely.

A bit curious cause I've just gotten married

A bit curious cause I've just gotten married No children yet. Would love to, just not quite ready financially. The mortgage is quite on the high end I have to admit, but I've 0 regret getting it. Just got to work my way through and hope for things to change over the next couple of years or so.

Check out https://econsultancy.com, if I'm not mistaken you can also get Google Certification from one of their courses. I went to one of their workshops before, but was for something else can't remember now. This post has been edited by Enemy: Jul 1 2016, 10:35 AM

Else it's not really relevant if u r a PE or not. Of course if you are seeking a job, submitting your CV with an Ir looks way better than a normal engineer.

Of course if you are seeking a job, submitting your CV with an Ir looks way better than a normal engineer. Don't work in consultancy also. Easier to get the job compared with other applicants, yes. More money... not always .

QUOTE(jovialguy @ Jun 22 2016, 02:20 AM) wow you are the envy of many guys here how old r u 30 something. My salary range is very normal as a credential actuary with more than 10 years of experience. And here's is NYC, 200k base salary doesn't get you too far. In fact, in where I am living, which is considered as the backyard of Wall St. Executives, the median income is easily 250k+.

QUOTE(ms749 @ Jun 22 2016, 02:33 AM) May I knoww whether you started in Malaysia or has it always been overseas for you? Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe Actuarial in Malaysia is not so competitive, but are the long term opportunities worthwhile? I have never worked in Malaysia before. Started my career in the US. Actually it makes quite a difference in where someone gain experience to say it is worthwhile or not. And to be honest, although not something we would explicitly say. a lot time we value US or UK experience more than other countries and there're good reasons for that. Also the speed in which you could attain fellow matters too.

QUOTE(R4yMoNd @ Jun 23 2016, 03:03 AM) This is annual or monthly salary? any other allowance such as house, car, etc? We use annual here, which I believe is getting more and more common in Asian countries for high level positions. I never heard of housing or car allowances in my field, even at executive level, I mean the real executive, not Malaysian's executive. My current boss, possibly base salary around USD 400k, doesn't even have such allowances. Other things like group health insurance, 401k, cell phone allowance, etc. are standard.
