Get PE then get earn more? I think it only works in consultancy....
Else it's not really relevant if u r a PE or not. Of course if you are seeking a job, submitting your CV with an Ir looks way better than a normal engineer.

Ya it's good in consultancy but not all industry

It does factor better remuneration as well for some cases.

Currently -
Job Title : Project engineer
Years spent in company : 2
Industry : OnG
Employment Level : Exec
Experience before joining : 1yr unrelated
Salary : SGD 3.9k
Need some thoughts should i take an offer or not. Its going to be a career switch to a bank in the commercial side middle office role.
Will be based in msia with offer of Rm 7k. Definitely gonna start learning like a fresh grad again  cry.gif  plus i dont quite foresee myself working in offshore environment in a long run after if i have a family and all.

Right now i got some commitments and based on my spreadsheet, RM7k is not much compared to 3.9k sgd and definitely need to give up my slightly exotic lifestyle in SG. Even now im renting a small condo room in SG and able to live very comfortably. Going back to take that 7k means a huge downgrade, considering my monthly commitment factored in, plus its a risk of career switch.

With OnG situation, its kinda unsafe to remain in existing cpy too. But I realise that in finance and banking retrenchment is even more rampant.

Which bank are you joining as Risk manager? Should negotiate for higher pay ?

Working in Sg risk management sector can demand quite good salary around sgd7-8k

Nothing much to hide, it is insead btw. I earned my course fee through years of saving, multiple investments and partial loan from financial institutions.

Thanks for sharing

I am also in the midst of considering to join Insead since I based in Sg no need to relocate, but the cost of EUR80k really hard to justify.

That's why putting NUS/SMU parttime MBA on the target also, not so prestigious but at least the effect of career change and salary increase are still there.

All the best in Insead. Just visit their campus last week , it's really awesome.

A bit off topic but the key to a top b-school is not "I have an MBA, now I have to look for a job myself to justify the ROI" but "I graduated from a top b-school, now employers are lining up at my door to hire me". Career services and alumni connections make a huge difference. Yes this applies to NUS too, at a lesser scale compared to INSEAD. My own ROI was roughly 2+ years in KL.

Personally, if you can get into INSEAD, skip NUS.

Ok thanks for your advice, agree your points also.

You are spot on on the number, if my salary was exactly AUD $100,000.

But there are ways to be smart around using deductions and salary sacrifice to get the most out of your income.

Effectively I can claw back about half of the tax that I pay. Not all of them in liquid $, some in items, some in $.

So effectively with Aud100k we can only bring back Aud75k?

10k is before or after tax? oz tax is crazy high

Yes those work in overseas need to state pre-tax or post-tax income
If you earn aud10k per month in Australia, net of tax u can earn only aud8k? Since their tax rate is around 20%?

This income is comparable to Sg pre tax of sgd8.5k since singapore tax rate is much lower
