Anyone here working on a daily rates as contractor? I was offered a 12 mths extendable contract of MYR600 per day. No other perks.

I have more than 7 years of experience, does the rate sounds reasonable?

If it is an 8 hour per day job, it's pretty reasonable but depends on your job scope and duration. However, the "no other perks" part is a concern. Do you mean no medical, expense reimbursement, transportation and accommodation? If you live in KL but have to move elsewhere to do the job, you may have to reconsider.

Without any background on what the job entails it's hard to judge. I'm paying my contractor a daily rate of RM4,000 and higher but these are for experienced telecommunications consultants in a risky area.

My desktop support engineer on the other hand is RM350 per day at a desk job in a cushy office...

I'm aware that my pay is above average, just wanna know if any of you are in a similar situation... If yes, what are you aiming for in your career by 30 years old? Any comments or feedback would be appreciated.

Is a quite weak reference and misleading if those work and stay in oversea share the converted value without take into cost of living... icon_idea.gif
perhaps is time for ts or mod to suggest to post only converted value upon taking cost of living into account. internet have tons of those calculator..

Here is some example (pls dont take it at heart, i just simply set some examples so local forumer can see what is wrong with this thread reference and have better picture instead wrong perspective about local salary. No personal or ill intention.. notworthy.gif

cheers
