True. I openly discuss our salary with my friends and ex-colleagues. Transparent enough to know where we stand.
I don't think it is luck?
Most of my first job offers at age 22 was around 3.3 ~ 3.8k. I taken the highest of course (coz I am young and I am just looking at money LOL)

I was actually offered another job over Manila and get paid in USD 1.7k. (x4 roughly 6.8k). I declined the offer coz I was advised by many people that the situation there is not safe.
Another offer was also around 5.5k ~ 6k as a business consultant in banking industry.

So that's why I think it is still too little lo. OR I am too greedy idk. that's why I share here and get some opinions.

Mind to share more about your job scope? It seems very challenging

I've recently completed an interview with x company last week and got a call from their HR this week on the offered salary.. they asked if I am willing to take 15% from my current salary.

I told them that I'm holding out for at least 20% or 25% instead, negotiable. Disappointed with their offer, especially when it's a 'promotion' to senior role but the initial offer is just not what I am looking for.

What do you think of my chances by telling them about my expected, even when I've stated clearly during my registration form on interview day.

I think it all depend which level you are at.

If you at 5 figure range 30 percent offer is too much for a company.

But if u below that range then its different story

personally i will take SG offer. for exposure, and if u opt to ulang alik between jb-sg u can save around $3k=RM9k. i have similar offer like u, $4k in sg or RM7.5k in kl.

So whats your choice after that? any advice for me?

i chose SG. not sure what advise for u. it's depend on ur goal. i'm single, no commitment, have simple lifestyle & want to save up money for travel. i would commute between jb-sg so i can save up more. i also seek international exposure for career advancement, i've never been working outside from MY before.

Commute between jb and sg is too tired for me. I would still prefer stay in SG and pay the rent. My status same like yours and i also think i need more international exposure

Thanks for your reply. Hmm even though I was in non-profit, my job was involving a lot of operations, market expansion, and eventually HR and people development. So I would like to foray into these fields instead of sustainability or CSR (because I didn't really work on those job descriptions).

Just be confident in interview and ask for the value that you think you match . You may put 2 year experience in your resume. I think its not about fresh gradute or not when come to working field

Hi all, need some advice from all of you. I am working as a IT Programmer

Currently I have about 4 years working experience and my current salary is about 5k.

I just joined a new company recently for few months but the job description is different than what I was told during interview. So far I got few job offers.

So my question here is that how much % of increment should I ask? Is 20% reasonable?

Go for 50% IT market now pretty well

In my late twenties, office job.

I think I am underpaid, does that qualifies me as overpaid?
No.

Message here is, you can't really tell if someone is under/overpaid just from that few lines of brief descriptions.
Heck most of the time even resume won't cut it.

No need to pour cold water over people.

Don't bother to reply if you don't have constructive comment/criticism to backup your pointless reply.
At the very least put some effort to show some maths/market norm etc.

And to wanakev2 , not sure what kind of data processing you're doing as I'm not in O&G but, data is the future.  icon_rolleyes.gif  smile.gif
