why modular PSU so expensive today?

AFAIK the distributor already dropped distribution for Seasonic so no warranty.I recommend getting the Corsair CX500 V2 instead,it can be had for RM219 at Lowyat Plaza.[The V2's box is plain old cardboard compared to the fancier V1 board but the V2 is better than V1]

A 450W power supply would suffice. The Cooler Master GX Series power supplies are not recommended due to quality issues, so do remember to avoid them.

That's an alternative . The GS 600 is recommended over the Xigmatek 600W Bronze power supply though, as it has a stronger 12V rail ( 576W versus Xigmatek's 504W )

just realized that they really bumped the price really high.
my previous X-750W was only RM529, retailing at RM599 at shops. And now the newer model X-760W which is no doubt almost the same except for the extra 10W is now RM629, and it's sold by CEX himself. Imagine the price if it hit's the shelves at LYP.
