QUOTE(Searingmage @ Jul 31 2011, 02:06 AM) I do agree PSU calculators are crap.. Your list pretty much sum up what PSU is needed for which gpu.. I'll complete your list by adding the amd one hd6990 - 750w hd6970 - 550w hd 6950, hd 6870, hd 6850 - 500w Hi guys i'm currently building a new rig for myself can you guys tell me how about 5850 OC? I currently own an old Acbel 500W, link http://www.acbel.com/eng/Product.aspx?id=49&&sd=31&&pid=199I wonder whether this psu can sustain the hunger of my new rig or not. QUOTE(TechnoG @ Aug 1 2011, 07:11 PM) ^ Your PSU is not a true power unit but I think it should be okay, you can try OC it and see whether it hangs or not 80% prolly can. hmm, if i'm looking for a new psu what would you suggest? I just had a look at Silverstone Strider 500w and it looks OK for me, or do I need a better one? EDIT : also saw this guy selling 550w psu for rm135 only. (i am price concerned) http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1799064can his psu work? This post has been edited by Auriel: Aug 1 2011, 08:23 PM

Thanks guys for the replies. I read them all and I learnt alot. Now I am thinking about the future where I will probably crossfiring 2x5850 OC. I read from other websites stating that they will need about 480W in total during load. So, I guess a FSP Hexa 500W cant do the job right? If it cant, then could a Strider 600W work?

Question, is a Gigabyte GT Odin 720W enough to power up 1. CF 5850x2, plus 2. an OC-ed i5 2500k 3. 1 SATA HDD?
