major hardware power consumption always need to inclusive of :
CPU + MOTHERBOARD + VGA CARD
the 3 main things that suck power most

all this teeny weeny stuff use very little power. If I'm not mistaken, the size(GB) of the RAM affects the power consumption sad.gif
I think it is around 10W++ for a standard 2GB stick.

FSP Hexa 500W @ RM169 or Silverstone ST50F 500W @ RM229 or Seasonic Silence Pro 500W @ RM199

For the above items, which one is best and worthiest?

All 3 above is a good PSU. It's all comes down to budget.
If you would ask me, I would say ST50F, then Silence Pro and FSP Hexa.
ST50F got the performance and a nice finish look.

I'm assuming you're referring to the Silverstone SST-ST50F-ES @ 229. In this case, the Seasonic Silence Pro 500W would by far be the best choice as the Silverstone Strider Essential SST-ST50F-ES is made by Sirtec which is a very lackluster build. Go with the Seasonic Silence Pro 500W, but just so you're aware, it uses an 80mm exhaust fan compared to the usual 120mm intake fans on most psu's.

Another option for you. St50f-es should be under 200 bucks now in all@it. Review here. Quite stable on its 12 rails. Using one myself. I did short circuited the thing once, it still runs, believe it has some short circuit protection. Either the seasonic or silverstone, both have 80% efficiency tag.

The general order with regards to the 3 psu's and their oem's are:
Seasonic>>FSP>Sirtec

*Note the extra emphasis '>>'

It's not recommended; The Cooler Master eXtreme Power Plus 500W power supply can only supply around 430W of total power, and only 360W of power on its 12V rails, which is the rail that you should be giving extra attention to nowadays.

You will want to get a better quality power supply, e.g the FSP Hexa 500W, Gigabyte Odin GT 550W or the Silverstone Essential 500W at RM159, RM169 and RM199 respectively to power up those cards. A power supply with a terrible quality is never recommended because it could damage your hardware in the long run.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but your CM EPP 500w has 2 12V rails (18A + 18A) but could only give an output of 360w? On Anandtech's review, a total system load running something like furmark would net ~320w for the 6950 system and ~350w for the 560 Ti system. This is with a nehalem core i7 920/930 with almost nothing else in the system. I don't know what you're currently running, but my gut feeling tells me you're gonna overload the 12V rail and if not, you're gonna come so close to redlining it that your psu's gonna burn out or shut down real soon. I would recommend you get a higher rated PSU if you were looking to get a 6950 or 560 Ti. When you do, pay attention to the amps on the 12V rail. Ideally, multiplying the Volts with Amps should get you close to the rated wattage on a good psu. (Example, my 650W psu does 54A on 12V line, 12*54 = 648, which is close to the rated 650W). A quality 550w to 600w psu should do fine with a bit of overhead safety.

The Cooler Master eXtreme Power Plus 500W is able to supply power of up to over 400W, but that comes at a price; You will be having a high electrical noise and ripple on the rails, which will damage the hardware in the long run.

The power supplies suggested in post #3716 has at least 400W of power on their 12V rails, so it should power up those two cards fine.

Yes CM EPP 500w is (18A + 18A), returned it back to shop. Will be replaced with CM GX 750w I believe. Will receive in few days. Enough power right? Their other choices are more expensive.

It has more than enough power, but you will still want to get another power supply.

The eXtreme Power Plus and the GX series of power supplies from Cooler Master should be avoided as they have electrical noise and ripple issues on their rails. Again, it's not safe to have a power supply with electrical noise and ripple issues as it could damage your hardware in the long run.

But anyway, if you do insist on using the Cooler Master GX 750W, it should still be safe as the ripple and electrical noise issue is present at a certain load only, which is around 550W and above if I'm not mistaken. Most likely you will be using around 400W of power only anyway smile.gif.
