Guys,

Do you recommend using Gigabyte Odin GT 550W PSU which is modular and 80+ certified. SLI possible.

Found the price at RM 169 from Jayacom price list.

Worth it? Better than Silverstone Strider Essential ST50F 500W 80+ RM 180?

Thanks.

If it is really that cheap, then yes, I'd recommend it.

It will support those system without any problems if there isn't any external graphics card. If there is, then it will depend on what card you're intending to use with the system.

Hi guys..

I'm planning to upgrade PSU for my old rig. Cos the current power supply for it is way too low - Total combined power of 207W, can't even power up certain 2.5" external hdd through usb port. shocking.gif

Details of the rig:

Processor: Intel Pentium D 925 CPU 3.00GHz
Memory: 2.0GB Dual-Channel DDR2
VGA: 256MB GeForce 7600 GS (Gigabyte)
Mobo: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. 945PL-S3 (Socket 775)
Monitor: Samsung Syncmaster 740N 17" LCD Monitor
HDD: 160GB Western Digital WDC WD1600JS-56MHB1 ATA Device (SATA)
Audio: Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio 7.1ch PCI Sound Card.
Optical drives: ASUS CB-5216A ATA Device
PS/2 mouse and keyboard

So, what's the recommended power supply for it? Do u guys think 400W PSU would be the suitable one? hmm.gif

PS: i'm not planning to OC the processor/memory or upgrade its graphic card.

Well,a good 400W unit like the CM Elite Power 400W would be fine but i got to ask something else, what's your budget actually?
No plans to upgrade or overhaul things?

You can consider the Gigabyte Power Rock 390W which retails for RM85 at Czone and Jayacom.

Startec is selling at Rm 79 only. Bought one & tried. Cables might be thin and short but great on low budget users. 78% power efficient.

Yep. But, you can always buy the cable or maybe reuse the old cable you've.

Morning guys,

my PSU just kong-ed I think, when I try to turn on my PC yesterday, the casing fan, CPU Fan start spinning like 2-3 secs, then it stop, and my casing LED keep on blinking only, is my PSU RIP already?

Its a 5 year old Fortron Blue Storm 500w anyway, need a suggestion on a new 1, heading to LYP later for new unit.

My spec is:

AMD Phenom II X3 710
MSI 770-C45 AM3 |
2x2gb Transcend DDR3 1333mhz |
Sapphire X800GTO DDR3 |
Seagate Barracuda 320gb
Samseng 1.5TB x 2
LG DVD RW

how much power do you guys suggest?
initially I plan to spend 1k for new LCD + Graphic card, the dream have to postpone because the PSU dead 1st sad.gif

Added on April 3, 2011, 6:02 amjust done a quick reading, is Seasonic 520w Bronze enough for my rig?
I guess the X800GTO is quite power consumption, but sooner / later, I might change to other budget GC like HD5670, is the 520w enough juice for me?

If you're planning to change to a HD5670 later on, the Seasonic 520W Bronze power supply will handle it fine. It can even handle three HD5670s without any problems. wink.gif

how about the 500w silence @ RM199?

enough juice for my rig?

Or the RM259 for Seasonic 520W Bronze is a must?

It's not necessary.

You can go with the Gigabyte Odin GT 550W at RM169 from Jayacom if you want. It's a pretty high-end power supply but it's rather old.

2) Gigabyte Odin GT 550w @ 169

Going to breakfast then head to LYP later.

Pity for my PC unable to on for whole night sad.gif
