i know it was written "online" everywhere on the page, and very obvious cant make online placement except booking appointment (also for what reason)

This is standard I think. Annoying but necessary. And in my case it was same city different taman. The officer said cannot open because there is another public bank nearer to the address in ic. Luckily brought utility bills out by accident, so account opened

double standard. making things difficult all in the name of anti-laundering and yet the big guys are exempted.

imho, just plain stupid and unnecessary. public bank is one of the banks that tried to give me problems. once i went to kl main to open account and they tried to stop me. i raised my voice and asked, "i always shop at klcc, so why i cannot use this branch?"

scb is another crazy bank. they rejected me, so i crossed the street to hsbc and put my money there.

nowadays, all branches are computerised and linked. opening account in one branch is no different from opening in other branches. if bnm wants to track small fish like us, just use our ic numbers and they can find out everything.

Typical bank approach. Trying to get customers change their mind to look into other investment products. I have gone through this once and the staff already knew what I want is pure FD

Actually for Maybank GIA FD, if you choose to roll over your monthly interest into your principle, you will be getting close to 4.6% pa. Of course only risk is principle/capital not guaranteed. Interest rate subject to OPR changes, I dont expect OPR to drop in near future, but if increase and maybank increase the FD rate will be bonus!
