You are right...i learnt English when i was a kid mainly because i was a bookworm and likes to hang out at the Library. I think i finished Lord of the Rings trilogy when i was around 17 years old..LOL.

For me now teaching BM is the challenge...kid BM is no good, now need to buy story book and read together with him and explain to him. Sometimes i asked him to search the dictionary himself to pratice. English is ok, not so worried, he can pick up English books and read by himself. Mandarin, i just hope he has the basic after learning for 6 years. Enuff liao.

UEC

All Chinese independent schools offer SPM and UEC, but some prioritize SPM more than UEC and some UEC more than SPM it really depends on the school. I know the independent schools in sabah prioritize SPM more than UEC. Some students actually just take the SPM when they are in senior 2 and just leave school to study foundation course at uni after they take their SPM. UEC is taken in senior 3.

Both my brothers didn't take SPM but only took UEC.

http://www.efuxi.com/list_of_smjk_throughout_malaysia.html

you see, SJK does not limit to primary school only, there are loads of secondary SJK as well. SRJK and SMJK

However, their performance are not that great. SPM result always kena tapao with other schools, maybe because the superior ones chose private or SMK instead leaving behind the ah bengs type....

Bro, you need to look at the other side of the coin oso la. Want to close vernacular schools but never give better alternatives, how la?

Restore the education standards to our national schools, heck make it even better than vernacular schools. That time you no need to close them, they will close themselves from lack of enrollment

Susah sangat ke nak paham titik ni?
*
Correct. But I am not aiming on closing Tsun Jin or what not. Some of the vernacular school are part of malaysian history. I just suggesting 1 system. Heck, I just dun like the word cainis in SJKC. It make it look too rasis. Imagine got SJKM or even SJKI (Iban). So weird bro.

Whats the purpose?

Reinvent the wheel?
Why must bubar?

The strength of malaysia is diversity.

The ability to accept others.

Now with more and more currybun. People no longer can accept 'other' stuff.  That starts the downfall of a country.
*
Diversity without unity is a waste. Everyone doing their own thing without understanding how to cooperate with the other side.

Malaysia is diverse therefore we can never compete head to head with other more uniform countries. What we can do they can do even better. The only way we can become better is play to our diversity and open up new niches. To open up new niches, unity is important.

if really want to shut down vernacular school, they can do it, but all national schools must have mandarin, english, tamil n BM as compulsory subject but still keeping pendidikan islam as compulsory to muslim only n moral to non-muslim

for discipline part, teacher should be given permission to punish students if they do wrong n national school should adopt learning n teaching style from vernacular
kids nowadays become rude, uncivilized due to they think their rank are above teacher..no respect at all
*
screw moral, should provide facilities for non muslims to learn their religion or other religion if they want to.

bodo mana la created moral for non muslims..sohai to the max.

I dunno, my bro is getting his tertiery education from MARA.

Honestly, I dont like these kind of safety net. I understand the intention to help melei to get higher education. But, lately it is being misused as safety net.

I cant say much. My mom already scold me of being those ignorant people who already succeed. My view is simple, u lazy u lose.

Diversity is our strength.

Thats what make us apart from indon myanmar filipine brunei etc.

The rest single race country are all master race with another religion.

The moment you remove diversity. We can start export brick layer and maid.

Whats the difference between us with indon?

( ratio of natives only)

I'm not saying you shouldn't learn Pendidikan Islam. I'm just saying that Pendidikan Moral is a dumb subject that should never have been made mandatory. It just makes students resentful that its yet another subject they have to study for and memorize, and what purpose does it serve?

To give you an idea of how stupid the subject is, it actually does things like give an exact defintion of what honesty or "Kejujuran" is, what are the traits that make up an 'honest' person. Than on the test, they would ask you what those traits were again and you need to be able to list them all down. Potong markah if you miss one out.

Its that sort of test. Its that stupid. Students who are great at rote memorization find it to be an easy A. The rest of us just get pissed at having to memorize nonsense.
*
sorry got misunderstood just now
n thanks for explaining what actually moral studies teaches

if that the thing they taught in moral studies, i agree that it rubbish n that subject itself should be revised again or just abolished
no practical at all n nothing that worth to educate students when it just memorizing the definition n terms
