i love 508 SW Wagon Diesel. saw one near my parking office, the price also steal nowadays. not sure if maintenance it on high side
*
Go for it bro! Love the torque that engine puts out. That diesel engine is bulet proof, regarded reliable. Maintenance is not a killer, reasonable at Renautech.

Hi. Any comment on Valeo front brake pad for 408 1.6T. Does it produce significant amount of brake dust like original did? How's the braking performance compared with original pad?

Appreciate your input on this matter.

Bro I believe Valeo is Peugeots original brake pads supplier, thats what i read sometime back. I've tried Valeo & presently on Melye. I notice 50% less brake dust with Melye. Same performance as original pads.

Just a word of caution to all bros here. Do not over run Oil change intervel! This can cause timmimg chain issues or even damage!

Due to MCO i could not get to my trusted workshop - Renautech. Hoping it will be lifted soon, waited. Hoever didnt realize my overrun had reached 1400km! During this time my engine developed a strange rattling sound during cold starts. It would only be for 2 sec & disappear.

As there does not seem to any sight of MCO lift, infact Covid 19 cases seem to be on the rise. I decided to service my car in Seremban itself. After service my engine is back nice & smooth. The cold start rattling is gone.

I believe the rattling was due to timming chain tensioner not taking up chain slack effectively, during cold starts. As a result ,slack chain hits its guide. The moment oil prssure builds up , tensioner come active to support timmimg chain, the sound stops.

In my case poor oil viscosity caused poor tensioner function. Oil viscosity changes with usage, thus not adviable to prolong service beyond recommendations.

Just wondering which type of oil filter are you using? Purflux zigzag or normal straight pleat? I believe the rattle at cold start is due to slower lubricant flow due to clog filter.

The purflux zigzag type should allow higher higher oil change interval, provided if you are using the A358, which has loose pleat compared with A398.

Thanks.

50% more brake dust on Valeo brake pad is a lot. Seems like Valeo brake pad is a no for me.

408 1.6T original brake pad is ATE Galfer which I will avoid too due to brake dust. Can't deny their performance though.

Yes I am using the zigzag fillter. Filter clog could be a reason too. Yet aother reason not to extend oil change intervals. I will stick to recommended oil change intervels!

As for brake pads, originals can vary since Peugeot has a host of vendors in Europe.

Hi gaiss,

My car is showing ABS faulty error again. I was trying to use ELM32 OBD II to check the ABS faulty vame from which wheel. But i can't find any info from the diagnostic tool. Anyone know whether we can get the ABS faulty info from OBD II?

From the scan, i only found oxygen sensor faulty. Need to replace this or i can actually ignore it?

There are 2 OX sensors. Best to replace if more than 100kkm. These can cause high fc. If on budget, can get workshop to remove and clean it.

This ABS sensor defect is such a nuisance. I changed all 4 already. Now on 2nd round, last month changed front left. Peugeot needs to use better quality sensors. My Bimmer 13 years already, still running on original ABS sensor!

Hi Peugeot bro,

Just bump into a Dongfeng Peugeot 1.6/2.0L wheel alignment specification sheet that shows preferred Front Right hand side camber angle being more negative than that of Left hand side (aka unbalanced camber angles at Front), which imo isn't quite suitable for our Malaysian road crowns.

Anyone here has a typical wheel alignment spec sheet (or a computer screenshot or printout from a local wheel alignment machine) for 'local' or imported Peugeot (of whatever models) to share indicating similarities or dissimilar ......

or any Peugeot owner here having experiencing vehicle veering left when driving straight ahead with factory specification esp when new?

I'm curious and btw I'm not a Peugeot owner.

If i can recalled correctly, steer to the left is the common issue shared by 408 owners. That was in Thread V1 or V2 if I'm not mistaken
