Just sharing, here's the maintenance cost for the 308 after warranty

https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/3795042

As for the 408 using more reliable parts than the 308, shouldnt cost this much..

Tks for sharing maintenance cost of the 308. I have posted after warranty maintenance cost on my 408t,earlier,also on the 4th year. This is conclusive proof cost of maintenance on both these engines are very different.

What you posted is only for general service. What about major service and pricing of standard wear and tear parts like brake pads, brake disc etc?

Granted, general service is reasonably cheap if it's at RM300 to RM350 each. Battery cost you what? RM300? ABS sensor how much? RM150?

But, major service? Tire change? Air Cond service? Brake Pads?

Those are not listed down, but we can make an educated guess on the relative cost of the items.

Major service: RM1000 ok? That I think is on the very low side of things.
Air cond servicing: RM300 reasonable?
Brake Pads: RM650 for front and back pads. Sounds reasonable to you as well?
Tires (4pcs): Should be around RM1300 if we include balancing and alignment and using cheap 17 inch tires.
Wipers: RM200 sound good?

Over the course of 5 years, it is not possible that you haven't at least hit RM6k in maintenance cost unless you only average 5k or 10k in mileage per year.

So depending on what is being done over the course of the year. If the person has to service his car due to constant travel, hitting 10k in servicing and maintenance cost per year is not an unreasonable estimate or over the course of 5 years for that matter.

And btw, your car turbo - if your mileage is closing in on 100k, you probably should be thinking about giving your turbo an inspection to see anything is required to repair or overhaul it. The bearings do have a lifespan and pricing for that should be at least RM1000 if something needs to be done about it.

a friend suggested to me to change to size 225 tires (instead of 215 for 408NA). I'm still thinking. haven't made any decision. any advice?

Yes your estimates are about right. 6k over 5yeras is very reasonable, should not be a contention at all. It is the cost after warranty that is of greater concern, and it is not possible to accurately predict as we don't know which item may fail.

Certainly, if one wants any turbocharged model, have to be prepared to fork out extra on long term maintenance. I am well aware of maintenance on turbos.

My compressor start to making cracking noise since last friday at mileage sharp 50k......still cold, but decide to replace......my friend's air cond shop quote Rm1800 for new denso compressor with labour...... took 3hrs to replace including clean/flushing condenser using chemical.... now back to normal...other shop quote Rm2.2k include replacing the china made condenser....... my friend told me that Denso compressor having reliability issue although it is Made in Japan.......unless Sanden compressor in other Peugeot model which may last for atleast 7 years.......
*
ya denso is shiiit.......I seen many customers complain on it wont last more than 2.5 years....but on the sanden made ...has more reliability. but beware of fake sanden compressor that are made in china.

SKYjack..please spread the words.

we found that a customers driving 308 that his original compressor lasted 5 years and still going strong(superb condition). we are really impressed with it. we checked his record and never has a claim on his aircond sytem.

here is how he maintain his tip top condition air-cond as well as his compressor. we asked him.
1. set the temperature at 21-23'C instead of LOW.
2. Replace air-cond compressor Oil and pollen filter every 12 month.
3.Clean condenser(using high pressure water hose) ,replace expansion valve and clean cooling coil every 2 years.

for normal oil change...rm80-150(depends on shop)
for full works....rm450 something like that.
according to him, he has another Peugeot too with same regular maintenance.. compressor lasted 10 years for his Peugeot 406 and 7 years for his 407.

we already take note on that and maybe put into consideration on actually putting in for our customers during service as a preventive measure for the complain of compressor kong too fast.

Since you will making a warranty claim, can you find out the cost at the SC. I'll be sending mine outside. Let's check out the price difference.
Yes, will do bro. I'll probably visit them tomorrow. Last year itself I started sourcing around for Peugeot workshops. That's when I came across these guys, made a note of their address.  Will post a complete breakdown on cost and quality of work.

Any one who experienced a non SC, Peugeot competent workshop, appreciate your post.Tq.

It is difficult not to retaliate when someone is abusive. Being an open forum, self censorship is quite important. My golden rule is don't reply to anything abusive or uncomfortable. Not too long ago, I was being enticed to reply. I know this guys attitude and many ppl have commented on it. I am always willing to share ideas for the sake of learning, but that wasn't his idea. I just refrain my self, no matter what he said! It will die down if you don't reply.

Jetta's promo price does make it tempting. You should test drive both cars and make the comparison, which is what I did. Transmission appeared quick, but car was not as planted as 408t at corners. Finally i dropped the Jetta for the following reasons:
1. Instrumental panel/dashboard appeared outdated to me. Infact this actually put me off and I only tested the car on my 2nd visit. Pug interior has an interesting French flair. Low waist line gave better visibility and sports car feel.
2. Slight body roll on fast corners, but still considered good road holding. 408t sports tuned suspension makes a whole lot of difference to provide better stability on fast corners! The rear especially is a complex setup that is usually only on sports & performance cars. Many times I'd only realise it's a salon when I get out of the car, after some twisty, spritted long distance drive!
3. Fabric seat covers
4. Infamous DSG transmission.
5. A bit Proton like looks, of course this is subjective!

I'm sure WV fan boys will come in screaming. But this is a Pug thread, my intention is not to bash WV, it's only my point of view & reasons why I chose the Pug over WV. No offence meant!

Point noted bro!

The only thing impressed me was the acceleration. But I'm not comfortable with their dsg till date.

I'll stick to the pug. Will keep you guys updated!
