Can I use straight cable for network expansion ? I mean connect my access point to my main router .

I always run into this problem , that after 1-2 days using . network just hang . found out culprit is the AP , after turn it off never have network issue again , after turn on normal for 1-2 days then the network hang again . solved right after I switch the AP off .

went to TM point last saturday, she say cannot change from unifi30+ruby to unifi30  advance+ruby...  rclxub.gif
can only change to aneka/venam or jumbo if wan to move to this new promo  doh.gif

Nonsence. Either she was bluffing or she has zero knowledege on this matter. I myself was on unifi30 + ruby, and I did change to unifi30 advance + ruby successfully, with the RM20 discount.

Which TM point you attended to? Try another one if you can. Most TM points in KL could handle this correctly.

Update for those people wanting new equipment...

Went back to TMpoint today to attempt to upgrade my parents' Unifi. Couldn't do it when I did mine last week because it is in my Mum's name, and she only came back during the weekend.

Anyway, for those unable to wrangle new equipment outright when you are upgrading, I found out today that there is an alternate provision (loophole?) from TM, and this applies to anybody with a subscription at any time. Apparently, all you have to do to get new equipment is to (a) make a report that your existing device is faulty and (b) agree to your contract being renewed.

Obviously, this wouldn't make sense if you are already way into an existing contract, but it's definitely worth doing when you are upgrading or anything that involves a contract reset anyway.

I hope someone can corroborate/confirm this by asking at your local TMpoint. Would like to see if it's a accepted fact all over.

On another note, my 'expedition' today wasn't very successful. The supervisors seem to be have changed their tune and it's back to only being able to get the Voice Pack free and upgraded HyppTV package through telemarketing. Oh well, if anyone knows how to get them to call you, let me know. I have two more accounts that need doing.

Well, for my case, I've applied new application for Unifi 50, on the same time to cancel off my current VIP20 package in order to get new equipment.

Sharing my unpleasant Unifi journey here. Wanting to upgrade initially to VIP 10 from my streamyx 2 as I have bought a media player for streaming. Then the new Unifi 30 Advance package came out. For a few dollars more, I can increase my speed a few times!. So aimed for 30 Mbps. Was willing to go for RM189 + 20 but learnt about friends here who got the free calls thrown in. Called 100, TM point, no success for the free calls. TM telemarketing called yesterday and I asked for the free calls. Cannot she said.

Getting angry at TM Unifi now, why free call for others and not me. So now looking at streamyx 8 instead. My family net usage is not that high. Only using HD TV and thus 4K requirement will not surface.

Upgrade to Unifi a few years down the road. Ha.

Cheerio.

Well yes, you can do that, but my suggestion was more for the people that upgrade so as to be able to keep their existing number. In my case, I have too many business and social contact to inform should I change my landline number.

Misunderstanding here. I am using streamyx 2 M now, wanting to upgrade to 8 M.

streamyx 8M 160 (Ruby plus free calls)
Unifi 30M 189+20 (Ruby plus voice)

So paying RM49 less for the same content except the speed.

Don't think I have Maxis in my town. Will check.

Thanks.

I just went to TM today and the CS there told me the 5MB, 10MB and 20 MB Unifi is no more available for new applications. Only the Unifi 30 and Unifi 50 is available now. Talk about choking your customers. shakehead.gif

Hope that streamyx ones will still be available.

both are same. If you upgrade by contacting tm, tm will pick an agent for you. The agent will put your request in queue, if he already has many customers in his waiting list.

If you upgrade thru an agent, basically you pick your own agent, and probably, since this agent has to work harder to get his own customers, maybe the agent will do the work quicker and you get ur unifi faster. Maybe. Sometimes, this kind of agent provides free gifts, or put you in a lucky draw..

Thanks for your clarification

As expected, guy called today with excuses. Claimed that 'warehouse tak cukup stok router', so 'kena tunggu stok baru datang'. No big deal, I guess, since the general consensus seems to be that the current batch of routers is worse than the DIR-615... so no rush. But I did insist that he bring a new STB asap, because who knows when the stok baru router will datang.

As for the BTU, after speaking with condo management, I went back to TMpoint late last week and asked them to arrange for an ONU instead of a new VDSL modem, so that Unifi can come in on the fibre rather than the phone line, and so I have the option of 50Mbps and more in the future.

In any case, everything is working well at the moment, so I am hesitant to touch or change anything in case the 'balance' is disrupted  whistling.gif .

As for your case, did you remind them that your equipment is 4+ years old, and it would be unfair to have to sign a new 2-year contract like a new application and not get new equipment? It wasn't straightforward for me either. Took a good 20-30 mins of negotiation, threat and wheedling. They are instructed to say no when asked initially, so don't give up so easily. If necessary, ask to speak to a someone more senior. I lucked out, I guess.
*
I did emphasized on the 4+ years. Alas, the officer at the queue ticket counter, sarcastically said, "Oh your friend did it in Damansara, eh, why don't you go there then? Why come to Bangsar?" vmad.gif
