Which is a better solution to have optimum access in every room in the house(2storey Semi-D)

1) a powerful router or

2) stock-router plus using homeplug+access-point to 5 rooms (cost 5xRM120)

I did emphasized on the 4+ years. Alas, the officer at the queue ticket counter, sarcastically said, "Oh your friend did it in Damansara, eh, why don't you go there then? Why come to Bangsar?"  vmad.gif

A powerful router can achieve what you wanted. Using homeplug can be tedious if your house is running 3phase cable since some of the double story are running it.

My house has 3phase cables but last week already tested most of the power points and the speed was really much better than using WIFI repeater. But I have not tested any powerful router.

Having 5 AP is a lot. You may face interference issue and some devices have trouble roaming to another AP quickly.

I prefer a dual powerful AP setup.

So a powerful AP at the center of each floor and both connected to BTU thru homeplug?

Nope. Main router is connected to the BTU via Ethernet and the AP is connected to the main router via homeplug.

BTU > Main Router > Second AP

Okay, regarding to RM20 rebate/discount.

I did complain to SKMM/MCMC as well (reported on 23 Okt, received on 24 Okt)
TM called me on 27 Okt, so the response time is quite ok smile.gif

They called me to get some account information but I couldn't get back to her, so I called back to 100. And it takes about 1 hour for them to get the right department/person to talk to me. mad.gif

For information, I signed up Unifi 30 for RM219 from TM.

So, the promotion offered to me is as following :

1. remain the same price (RM219) but can retain free calls and a new add-on of Ruby Pack.

2. get the RM10 rebate, but the voice call plan will be removed

I choose the first option, as my family are using HyppTV.

What surprising is that, these 2 offer can be done just through Phone.
yay! no need to wait in TM point. rclxm9.gif

so, that's means TM is changing their mind again. No need to go to TM Point. laugh.gif

and this will take about 3 working days.

forget to ask about contract period, but it is not a big deal as their is no other ISP for me to choose from...

and let's pray that the price doesn't increase, again... rclxub.gif

because during last time, the RM219 offer by TM is actually RM199 as they confirm with me is this price when asking me to upgrade from VIP10 to Unifi30... and come out with an excuse : because the owner is choosing Jumbo Pack. But then I am sure the person told me will free jumbo pack, but no free call, and the price remain same.. BTW, I just remembered that there was a "trail period" before they offer me this price. I get to view Jumbo pack but doesn't aware about the speed. I thought it was TM system glitch, but sadly it is not XD

I can see some same complaint same with my case over here in lowyat forum too....

TM is coming to install Unifi at my place soon, but the package price is still rm199 for 30mbps (pre promotional price).

Now how would i go about getting the rm179 promo price? Just go to TM Point and ask nicely? Cheers

I called unifi helpline yesterday, they gave me a site that diagnose our line by running speedtest, but it has more information. Forgot what site it was...anyone here knows?

it's IEMTS or something like that.
