I think I got "cheated", as my premium spec does not come with EcoTint film, just normal safety film.
So as a reminder for future buyer, ask your SA and secure the EcoTint film when purchasing premium spec.

Check the warranty card first.

Anyone know what's the issue if the car slow acceleration engine will cut off have to restart the engine.

You may find clutch adaptation procedure helpful. If car is new, it might happen as the TCU has not fully learned.

I don't see how your tint can be cheated away. Vendor installation is part of production line, not something promised by salesman.

If the tint is part of the production line, then how come I have a different tint than other?
Also, if I remembered correctly, my SA told me that after they got the car, need to do tinting and other stuffs before can pass the car to me.
From what my SA said, it sounds like the tint is after production job.

I suggest you to call Proton Careline, perhaps there are changes to the CFE package, before you go and bombard your SA.

Maybe Proton changed vendor from Ecotint to this brand, seeing there's a tag saying it's an approved vendor.

Thanks for the information. So it is the problematic gearbox of the CVT that causes the loud sound. I thought the sound is coming from the engine.

Was planning to drive the car for another 2 years before I sell it for something else but it might be sooner than I thought after all these recent hiccups. I was told that the gearbox replacement may not be completed in 2 weeks time and may drag up to 1 month. Can't afford be a slave to the car although fortunately I have another backup car in the Ford Focus, which the clutch fix is also due very soon.

So whats the status of your gearbox?really kaput?and what is your car mileage now btw?

Not sure if they have changed the package for the CFE version.

I took my car to service center to service, while waiting for service to complete, I took a look at some unsold Preve CFE parking at the sales branch there, I noticed that some of those cars has EcoTint label/paper hanging at the windscreen rear mirror. I would presume that those cars some together with EcoTint film, because I saw some instructions on the label/paper if not mistaken.

Yes mine came with it and a warranty card with serial number. You should just call the Careline and find out.

I have no much confident with this tint. Past experience speaking that the Proton Persona that I drove before for six years has this Safetint installed. The problem I had with the tint was, the tint started to have very obvious waves like pattern and bubbles, on the third year.

I did not bother to claim any warranty on that film and decided to change to other brand's film.

The gearbox kaput already. Mileage of the car is about 38,000km. The car can still actually be driven on the roads if I don't know about the severity of the problem. Only after the car was checked by the mechanic at the service centre I was informed about the condition of the gearbox. I requested to drive the car back home (it will take several days for them to make a report and order the part) but it was rejected due to safety reasons.

Such a coincidence that the clutch fix of my Ford Focus was scheduled today, and it has to be cancelled as I will not have a car to use if send the Ford Focus in to the service centre.

EcoTint should be a good tint, just to clarify that I was referring to Safetint on my previous post.

This punch cvt was tested up to 200k km. Probably yours is one of the few isolated defective ones

I remember you mentioned you often use S mode and paddle shifters during heavy traffic to improve gearbox response? I wonder could this have contributed to the premature failure of the gearbox....not blaming u or anything, just wondering if that was a factor. If it is due to this, maybe let this be a warning to other Punch CVT users.

anyway, better not mention anything about using the paddle shifter to Proton SC, lest they use this as an excuse to decline your claim.

Yes I use the paddle shifters (Manual mode) everyday. I don't use the S mode as the sound from the engine during acceleration is too loud when in S mode (D is already loud enough). Not too sure if the use of paddle shifters have damaged the gearbox. It may be a possibility. It it really was the case, then the gearbox is proven to be unreliable. I don't think Proton will choose not to honour the warranty even if they knew I had used the paddle shifters, since that feature came with the car which is deemed fit to be used, unless they announce a disclaimer in that the paddle shifters cannot be used frequently or in specific traffic conditions, which I don't think was mentioned.

Personally I do think it is very likely a bad batch of CVT gearbox which suggests either poor reliability or quality control of this particular part.

Yes, likely a few bad batch of isolated cases, though I note that there are other owners who have had problems with the gearbox as well although the number of cases is unknown.

Do you use PLUS or LEKAS highway when you drive to Seremban on the weekends? PLUS is usually quite packed with many cars. THere are very few cars on LEKAS highway and it's a nice drive especially in the mornings.

I use PLUS and to be exact is the melaka to seremban stretch that allows drivers to go faster but i do not speed above 140 all the way.Is more like driving at speed limit alternating with 10minutes duration at higher speed. Been travelling almost every weekend past 2 years and so far my car is still going strong. I shud be touching 90k km by the end of 3rd year i own the car.

Anyone exceed 100k km yet?
