QUOTE(chocobo7779 @ Jun 10 2016, 04:45 AM) Wow come here = nearly twice the US MSRP... Not twice la.I thought it was under RM2K? Basically everything you see USA pricing, you have to x5. Anything announced and not in yet, your price estimation should be Price x (exchange rate + 1) So if exchange rate around x4 you have to x5. |

GTX1080 FE at MYR3599 vs USD699 GTX1070 FE at MYR2499 vs USD379 3599/699 = 5.148 VS 2399/379 = 6.329 where did that extra USD1 charge came from? PS : take this calculation with grain of salt, im just confused atm at the pricing |

I also donno, from my sources (distributor, seller) it's Nvidia who set the price for those FE models.
Was in Taiwan last week, went to check on GTX 1080 price. TWD after conversion also come to around RM 3399. |

Or you can wait for (un)fortunate circumstances of people, like [WTS] GTX 1080 need money / change mind / don't like / going red camp / RX 480 better .....................

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH, the Founders Edition beats the non-FE! Namely the MSI Gaming X 8G beaten by the Founders Edition, EVEN THOUGH the MSI has the supposed "better power delivery" with extra power pin connectors, and that huge double ball bearing fans. The shame of the MSI card begins at 11:00. 2026Mhz on the MSI card, 2088Mhz on the FE card. It's silicon lottery, people. You can have the best looking design, put tons of fans on it to cool it to kingdom come, you can plug in all the power you want but ultimately, voltage lockdown limits everything, AIB cards included. I hit that 2088Mhz overclock on my own FE myself, along with the 3DMark link to prove it. |

The Gigabyte GTX 980 Ti Xtreme Gaming in my lab is pre-OCed and can still be OCed so I wonder if the new generation cards would be as such.
I guess there's a reason why FE models cost more, probably Nvidia already selected the best ones for FE. |

If you can take anything that comes out of Jensen's mouth with any degree of credibility, Nvidia dont bin any of their FE cards.
The "pre-OC" argument is only valid if you don't plan to OC at all and just want to "stick it in and forget about it". If that is the case, aren't you buying into the wrong philosophy here? The AIB cards are made for overclocking, the FE/reference isn't. And with ALL AIB cards priced HIGHER than FE pricetag at this moment, I wonder who is the bigger fool here: those who bought FE cards and still manage to get the same performance of the supposed pre-OCed AIB cards after everything is pushed to the limit, or those who buy AIB with pre-OCed settings but got their results LOWER than FE cards? Hilarious! I guess in my situation, I'm set. Stay with air cooling, until I decide to move the build where the card reside into a bigger case (which have to be selected carefully since I want it to reside behind the 4KTV in the living area, and not visible), and go with liquid cooling. |

Just got 2 of these new fangled GTX1080 thinggies and they've shipped out.
Knowing me they'll probably sit in their box for about a month as I have the attention span equivalent to that of a mayfly's life expectancy. In my opinion FEs are the way to go because the standard board design will make tacking on watercooling or other extra bits all the much easier. Plus the standard board size makes putting it into different cases all the more predictable. I'm just happy to see that ATi have chosen a different approach and gone for a more value orientated market offering instead of battling for the high end. They also have a leg up in the on die VRAM department which is critical for 4k gaming. It'll be interesting to see how the fight pans out. |
