Ha..I always suspect the "spooky" feeling of staying at those bungalows (such as Bala)..This is not the 1sttime I heard of this story i.e someone knocking on bathroom door, door opened by itself 7 someone taking bath in the bathroom...Infact I experience once myself at Brastagi, Indonesia!! & also the Merlin Inn CH (Now 5 star Cameron Highland resort)

Damn spooky...well probably physcology but thinking of it... shakehead.gif shakehead.gif no way I'm going to stay at such hotels biggrin.gif

also, i read from other resources that OK Tuck steamboat is good and value for money. is this correct info?

i'll be staying at Brinchang area, and i've gathered from this forum that it's a bad idea (traffic and high priced food) ... oops!  but i choose it for convenience this time  biggrin.gif

OK Tuck is so so only
but better than the one under hotel chua gin or silverstar (aka kedai parang) laugh.gif
if u wan big portion + reasonable price

just came back from Cameron highland ... I stayed in Bala Chalet and its not bad. Spooky? a bit but its meant to be a quite escapade after all.
I try to book at Strawberry Park Resort on second day but the moment I saw so many cars at the car park and the noises all around the hotel, I went back to Bala for second night.

Do not go to Robinson Waterfall. It's a hoax to attract tourist. The water came from the City Huge drain and not from the mountain. I made a mistake washing my face with that longkang water i thought its a spring water.

You Hoo Restaurant was great. Highland Restaurant serving traditional steamboat is great without MSG at all.

I loveeeeeeeee the fried oysters and the sweet corn from the pasar malam.
I brought the corn and had it during my jungle trekking trip there. biggrin.gif yummy..

there's also this small restaurant in one of the upper floors of the a shop lot row, that serves the nicest strawberry cheese cake, french onion soup and scones. there's a lot of foreigners that stop by there. anyone knows the name and the town its located at?

Tcafe and its in Tanah Rata. The scones are nice especially the Strawberry Scone. Other stuff is so so only. French onion soup and mushroom soup a bit dilute.

there is a Germany Restaurant in Tanah rata, i wonder if it's nice.
The Corn is nice and fresh. by the way, don't be tempted by the overprice strawberries. some Big one is put on top to tease the customers but at the bottom , all small pieces.

Also got con by them ... some will tell you that the Organic one is sweeter. They let you taste the sweet one and when you purchased already, they mix with non organic..

You can read interesting reviews about Lakehouse posted by seasoned travelers on tripadviser:

1) http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g2...nds_Pahang.html

What type of low cars are you talkin' about? no worries...even with a kancil will do. there are certain dangerous stretch (sharp curvy lane..you have to be careful on your way up to CH...plan your journey and try to avoid going up during rainy days...some minor landslide will occur.

and olso on narrow mountain roads, drive as far to the left as possible and sound your horn where you cannot see at least 200 feet ahead or on steep curves.

Lakehouse is nice & beautiful but:

1) It's far from the town (About 8 km b4 Tanah Rata)
2) Not so high located not far from Ringlet which is about 1100M (~Fraser Hill height)

The 2 factors really kill off those who wanted location near to eateries & also much cooler location)

Yes it's awesome but that hotel is the 2nd most expensive hotel in CH and wth low altitude & far, not worth the money pay for..>RM400/nite sad.gif ..Nevertheless these type of hotels are for the rich... biggrin.gif rclxms.gif

Lakehouse is quite far from Tanah Rata or Brinchang. So, if you need to jalan-jalan cari makan, you have to travel with ur car.

well, if i am not mistaken, Lakehouse is associated with Smokehouse.

i stayed in Smokehouse before and i think its better to stay in Equatorial with the Price and all...

Equatorial is nothing to rave about also la. its just that there is not much choices up there.

i don't think u will have a problem with modified super LOW car. the road are winding.. not much bump. if u do not have a problem going to Genting, Cameron also shouldn't be a problem!!

thought the Pasar Mlm only on fri and sat nights?
but the crowd ... wow. especially during school holidays. parked miles away and walked over.
but worthwhile,
for the :

1) fruits. the Crystal Jambu, sweet and crunchy fruits, but at a pricey RM6/fruit I think.
2) the various flavoured ice cream - Beer. Rum, Cheesecake, anyone?
3) Deep fried mushrooms and stuff.
4) the best-eaten-when-raw SWEET corns. the juice splatters once bitten.
5) sweet potato balls - orange and purple varieties.

that's all I went for, though tthere are various other stalls selling other stuff like rice, fried chicken, prawns and crabs,
honey, etc.

as we were in a big group, we chose to stay in an apartment, then have our own steamboat meals in the apartment.

Desaa Anthurium at Tanah Rata and Honeymoon Villa, Brinchang. roughly RM200 per apartment for 10, 3 bedrooms and 2-3 bathrooms.

OK Tuck steamboat so-so only. nothing special though.

T-Cafe's food not good. only the desserts are the redemption factor. and the cosy ambience helps somehow.
there's even a Starbucks at Tanah Rata, and so many Indian food outlets as wellas Western food along the road.
