i'm planning to go to CH with my bf for 2D1N.. my budget would be 100-150.
we'll go there by bus. so where would u recommend us to stay overnight?
and, would it be possible to walk from brinchang to tanah rata?

thanks in advance=)

It is possible to wait for the local bus. It should be very economy. I've tried once.

Well, the local buses have no aircon(u dun need it @CH biggrin.gif ). And the schedule is not frequent. Also service is till evening only. Checkout the schedule when u are at tanah rata.

1) it's not like they only have 1 drivers, so it really depends on the driver himself, can't comment but normally they are in moderate speed when i saw them
2) most likely

da local bus company REGAL...is SUCK UP all time. Unreliable..they put up a schedule detailing da frequency of buses...in reality its just a piece of stupid paper to misled passengers. I waited for da bus for hours! not even one is visible. Better drive to CH. Moving around CH with a taxi is an expensive thing to do.

Most driver going up to CH r experience drivers. They know all da dangerous curve. I went there about one month ago. It was raining heavily that time. Lots of mini landslide..but da bus driver can tell u all da dangerous spots! Look for this company...KURNIA BESTARI...

for more enquiries about CH...you can go to this portal http://www.cameronhighlands.com/

For sure can, If cannot, ask 80kg guy push from the back. For me Simpang Pulai route is easier and wider. Gua Musang route open long time already

Not sure that road linking Sg Koyan Raub to Bertam Valley & thereafter to Ringlet completed. I was there end of last year & the portion near bertam valley really teruk -unpath & very dusty, decided to turn back after exploring ~5-10km of the unpath road biggrin.gif ..nevertheless it is possible via 4WD & the tracklogs by 4WD has been updated in Malsingmaps

i've stayed at bala's before (we took the family room). my opinion:

good:
1. the place is nice ... beautiful garden, quiet, highlands charm.
2. the chalet provides free shuttle to tanah rata town area and back to the hotel (just call them to pick you up).
3. our room has a patio outside (for those who want to be with nature)

bad:
1. there's a common room with tv and books, but either we were late sleepers or the guests there were early sleepers (it was about 10pm), the room was dark and quiet ... so we did not hang out there.
2. ok, i think the guests there are all early sleepers. we totally did not realize there were ppl staying next door, and thought we had the area to ourselves. we were playing cards and eating strawberries, when out of nowhere this guy popped out of his room and asked us to quiet down.
3. my friend claimed that someone knocked on the bathroom door when she was using it. We did not.

now that i think about it ... i hope the guy talking to us was a human ...

p/s: another friend in our group likes the place very much, and is booking it for her upcoming trip thumbup.gif

Added on September 28, 2008, 5:15 amhi, does anyone know what time the night market starts and ends? i'm looking forward to buying the snacks like fried mushrooms and sweet potatoes, but also want to have steamboat for dinner ... can't decide which to go for!

also, i read from other resources that OK Tuck steamboat is good and value for money. is this correct info?

i'll be staying at Brinchang area, and i've gathered from this forum that it's a bad idea (traffic and high priced food) ... oops! but i choose it for convenience this time biggrin.gif
