QUOTE(stimix @ Aug 8 2008, 08:00 PM) So far the best is either Mayflower (Read recent post that they hv moved to the Maybank row in Tanah Rata??) or Hong Kong Steamboat...not far from HSBC Tanah Rata...Rate about RM13/pax. Dun goto Brinchang..lousy & cut throat...Infact all the restaurants at Brinchang are slaughtering house & come wth lousy serving....The best & reasonable restaurants are all located at Tanah Rata went there on sat..food was ok ok..but then..those counsel came and do mosquito fogging... |

At a budget of RM200...u get very broad choices oledi...and my recommendation at this budget wth really quiet environment will be:
1) Strawberry (Sometime they do give RM188 package if u are lucky) 2) Heritage - Normal price ~RM230 but u can get <RM150 w/out brakfast from Heritage Time sharing members selling in lelong.com / LYN 3) Equatorial - As usual the famous RM188 package Dun go to those hotels near main roads (actually most of the well known hotels do!!) --Or if u willing to tone down your budget to below RM100..there are more nicer & clean budget hotel without TV but wth attached bathroom such as Twin Pine, Cameronian inn & KRS guesthouse.....Right now KRS guesthouse is my favourite Inn bcos it is very new (Owned by Twin Pine - best recommended backpacker Inn by foreigners ) & comes wth shared Astro channels..u can sit virtually at the common area & surfing the channels as u wish..provided no other guest around-lah Added on August 12, 2008, 9:48 amWell not for me. I still ennjoy using the old road bcos: 1) Cost saving on toll / distance 2) I dun go fast so tailing a lorries/bus is not really a problem & u can overtake if u want 3) New road is so boring & hardly any orang asli settlement where you can stop for a nice & super duper cheap durians, wild orchids (Illegal in CH but u can buy leggally from orang asli!!), & native products! BTW the durians & petais by Orang asli are superb....U even can borong RM20 big basket of >20-30 durians!! QUOTE(lonewolf @ Aug 10 2008, 11:47 PM) I would still advise you guys to use simpang pulai way even it is further, but at least u dun have to follow lorries and buses crawling up. Added on August 12, 2008, 9:53 amWell my personal view, I will choose Equatorial rather than the spooky/ look haunted Bala! thanks stimix, KRS Guesthouse seems to be good but one forumer did mention about the kids.. is it noisy there and will there be any morning calls from the mosque? i hope its not a sharing toilet and the wall is not so thin. sometimes at night, u can hear alot of noises like people walking etc... it may be good for someone who does not easily irritate by noise
seems a good choice too. Strawberry park can see nice view? Equatorial has a hill side view as claimed by someone with balcony. |

KRS comes wth attached bathroom & hot water
Too bad no nice view at KRS bcos it's located deep at the end of Jln Mentigi. (Dead End)...The view u can see is from the common hall on each of the 4 floors) facing Gunung Brinchang & local houses /Inns fronting KRS Strawberry park is located on top of summit between Berinchang & Tanah Rata. Too bad my room facing lobby so can't see much! I believe those rooms facing the side of the mountain must be nice...& yes the view between Tanah Rata & Berinchnag is very beautiful from the top. (You can view if u walk abit out from the hotel)....Equatorial view is so-so only as certain area facing the Ugly vege far of Keafarm - abit exploited so the view might not be nice for some... Strawberry got not much scenery unless u consider forest view as scenery
as for equatorial u got more scenery as in farms and its more open scenery (facing outside) Equatorial ![]() This post has been edited by driftmeister: Aug 12 2008, 10:03 PM |

The Salem High country shooting is in Fraser Hill-lah not CH!
Actually there are 3 hotels facing very nice sceneries of the Golf course & English houses/ bungalows..i.e Cameron Highland Resort, Villa Dahlia (Apartments- can be very cheap during off-peak - I got a 3 rooms apt for RM140 only!!! - but they locked 1 room !) & Casa Delarosa....All these 3 hotels/apt are on the main road so might be abit noisy-lah... Not really....the road up to CH is actually not so steep compare to Genting although certain areas are narrow!.. If u are worry about the narrow condition of the road, use the new ghighway from Spg Pulai but xtra KM & xtra toll-lah...Yet driving up will not be as bad as going up the super steep Genting!
