Is it safe to travel to Cameron Highland at night through Simpang Pulai route ?

Done that many times, not a problem if you don't go too fast.
With the lights on, it is actually easier to see and anticipate oncoming cars approaching a bend.

I am planning to go Genting next weekend, on 21 & 22 for 2D1N trip with another 2 friends. Can someone please recommend me a good hotel to stay with decent pricing?

Thanks!

Christmas week and you yet to book not easy man... Most resorts/ apartments most probably no more room by now dy.. but you still can try your luck.. Stay in Tanah Rata for much quieter and peacefull environment rathe than petrol fume & traffic noises of Brinchang.

Try calling father guesthouse (They just move to Maybank side and bigger and better building.. Otherwise try KRS Guesthouse

Went to Cameron on 8th and 9th so here is my mini review...

Accomodation - V.Dahila
We booked 4 rooms pent house apartment, very lousy and dirty. Check in at around 1:30pm and found most of the bed sheet to be no clean and one of it to have some oil stain. Climax was when my friend found cockroach wondering on his bed.. Considering it was a peak season and after several calls to other nearby hotel was "fully booked" we stayed and changed all the bed sheet our self because all housekeeping aunty had went back. When we were there it was cold even during day. So because we were all so preoccupied to change bed sheet and call other hotel our lunch was delayed until very late tea time. For toilet heater was working but is the water pressure which is the problem so this second you have warm water, the next second you will have ice cold water.. Fantastic at least it wake me up and make me jump & dance. On the positive side the apartment was big and had a constant cold breeze blowing. The living room was big if you are going with alot people it will be good. everybody can be in living to chit chat but it was freaking cold at this top floor.

Steamboat - We went for OK Tuck at brinchang, i think the steamboat is normal only but is good to have steamboat when weather is cold. It was cold at night for us when there is wind blowing.

Traffic - Do not go during weekend, traffic is unbelievable in cameron. if you do not have a choice consider reaching before 11:00am to avoid most of the traffic. Road form rose Valley toward KEA farm will be badly congested. TRUE STORY! Stop at Ipoh for dim sum if you have the time and can wake up very early.
*Must try* after come out from rose valley there is this stall selling keychain, fridge magnet & etc.. they also sell strawberry ice Popsicle try that.. fragrant and sweet.

Brinchang night market - Parking is a big nightmare... but we were lucky as some car is leaving so we just take their parking spot. Parked somewhere near to petronas. So if you want to avoid parking menace you might have to come out early 6pm. Park your car at strategic location and walk to your hot steamboat and then night market.

Others - Brunch was at Uncle Chow, since there is many of us we tired almost have of the menu that is on recommended list. The curry laksa & nasi lemak is worth to try out, to wash all the brunch goodness down our tummy we tried aloe vera dessert. Strawberry farm at brinchang is also a good one, go if you have time.

So overall is very enjoyable and fun trip, will be visiting the area is the future but will not be going during weekend.

Luckily manage to book DLF for the last week of december, got special rate sommore laugh.gif . Too bad all the corporate discounts / cc discounts all not valid during holidays cry.gif .

As for food, i think i'll just be impromptu....see where got food then just makan la...i dont think i have the luxury of being fussy laugh.gif

will be there for 4 days...is it too long? rclxub.gif

Will be taking the Sg Koyan/bertam valley route up....anyone used that route before?

Went to CH on 19 Dec Wednesday via Tapah, smooth journey. Stayed at Tanah Rata Heritage Hotel. The weather was pleasant and cool. Went to Big Red Strawberry Farm for the dessert, Charcoal Steamboat dinner at Highland Restaurant, Night market at Brinchang, Breakfast at Sg Palas Boh Tea Plantation, bought vege and strawberry at Kea Farm. Back to KL on 20 Dec via Simpang Pulai. My first time there, lovely enjoyable fruitful trip. smile.gif

Came back from CH last weekend, it was so freaking cold. Crowd was ok during the weekdays, but weekend it was unbearable (luckily I was going back on the weekends).

Took the Sg Koyan route up, no cars at all. In the whole journey, was only me and another black myvi going up tongue.gif.

Simpang Pulai road is relatively easy to drive just if its ur first time dont speed too much...there's a couple of easy but blind bends which you might skid off if you're not paying attention.

Driving up mount brinchang at 6 am is indeed a out of the world experience shocking.gif

Brinchang night market is opened everyday during the school holidays. However, pretty much every single stall sells the same things

Went up for 4D3N, manage to cover kea farm, brinchang and tanah rata town only. Not enough time to do everything we wanted to. Going to go up again this year haha laugh.gif

If you want a sense of adventuring...why not stay at moon river lodge whistling.gif

I stayed there last week, starting from RM680++ /night
Last time the price used to be charged in USD and the lowest rate is USD250++ per room.
Nice design and environment... very cozy too ^^
