Fast fast submit.

I submitted 2 weeks back and just got refund from LHDN.  rclxm9.gif

Lost my job in March. So, after deduction, I got back 100% of paid tax in 2016.  rclxms.gif

Just recieved a letter from LHDN informing that any excess paid will be kept in my account. I will have to call them if I want them to return back the excess to my bank account. Is this new? Previous years usually they will bank-in to the bank account automatically. hmm.gif

Erm, my wife has RM40+ excess paid tax for YA2015 and received the same letter. So i thought i just leave it there and wait for YA2016.

Comes YA2016, my wife has excess paid tax like RM100+ for YA2016.

Thought they would refund both the YA2015 & YA2016 tax but turns out only YA2016 it's refunded.

Im still confused on 1 part. By internet subscription, does it include my monthly telco mobile data (umobile, celcom, etc)?

I would like to know too. I am using Mobile internet package in which I have to pay charges if I call from my mobile.

After reading it through from page70 until page 105, I found the answers for my queries:

1. Is CPA eligible for tax relief under education fee?
Ans: No, only MICPA and MIA are the recognized professional bodies for accounting division.

2. CPA annual subscription fees is deductible?
Ans: Yes, self deduction from total employment income and have to retain the receipt.

3. Medical fees for parents, does it including glaucoma?
Ans: As long as you can prove the treatment is received by your parent and provided by a medical practitoner registered under MMC and if payment is made by you, you have to request a verification from doctor saying that you paid the amount.

4. Is Mobile Package deductible for internet subscription?
Ans: Only the internet portion is allowed.

Other than these, I would like to ask:
1. My house internet streamyx package is registered under my brother name as it was shifted from old house. Currently, I am paying for it. Can I claim? (Evidence of payment is there using internet bill payment transfer)

2. If sportswear, swimsuit and sportshoes are non-claimable, can I claim the folding bicycle that I purchased in overseas using cash and also the safety helmet for cyclist that purchased in Malaysia?

3. Laptop was purchased in year 2016 but I get my brother to quote, assemble and receive the shipping for me. Name indicated is my brother name but he is a student. Can I claim the amount if payment is from my bank transfer to my brother, and from my brother to the seller?

4. Special needs for parent (under medical treatment part), do I need to get the doctor to verify every year that my mother needs the supplements for her health condition? Makanan berkhasiat, does it include the vitamins or health products only?

5. Books purchased overseas are stated in foreign language and currency (receipts). Can I still claim?

Thank you in advance.

1. Evidence or proof of payment is the receipt or tax invoice under the name of taxpayer; not method of payment. During audit, what the tax officer wants to see is receipt or tax invoice.

2. If folding bicycle is listed under approved sports, then you can claim it. You can only claim for sports equipment and its consumable. Take badminton as an example, badminton is under the list of approved sports by LHDN, its equipment is racket and shuttlecocks are the consumables. Both racquet and shuttlecocks are claimable for tax relief.

3. Same as (1), you need receipt or tax invoice under the name of taxpayer. In the event when the shop is not able to put tax payer name, CASH receipt is accepted.

4. Supplement is not entitled for claim. Only treatment, consultation fee and prescription from clinic/hospital/doctor are eligible for claim. This also include dental and nurse care.

5. Doesn't matter as long as receipt or tax invoice under the name of taxpayer.

Name of taxpayer? Are you sure about that?
When you buy books at MPH, Popular, or at the local bookshop, they will issue you the receipt with your name?
When you buy badminton racquet from Parkson or Jusco, the receipt will put your name?
*
IF you can produce the receipt to match what you are claiming, you will be fine.
Having your name on the receipt ENSURES only you can claim the tax relief.

1. Not Eligible to claim lifestyle relief for YA2017, not under your name at all. YA 2016 does not have internet relief.

2. Bicycle can claim sports relief for YA 2016, maximum RM300

3. Name under your brother, it will be risky when audit, might penalize u if they detect it.

4. Yes need doctor to verify, i do not think supplement is consider as medical treatment. Read the link below F2A.

http://lampiran2.hasil.gov.my/pdf/pdfam/Ex...es_BE2016_2.pdf

5. Book purchase oversea can claim as RM1k book relief, convert back to RM based on credit card statement amount.

Thank you for all the replies.

Now I understand that:

1. Streamyx registered under my brother but as long as I can show the receipt payment from my savings account to Telekom, then I can claim it.

2. Cycling is approved under Sports Act 1997, so I will treat the folding bike and helmet as claimable items.

3.Laptop receipts as long as my name appear on the receipt, then it is claimable =)

4. Quote From previous reply from forumers who contacted LHDN at this link: https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/3621012/+1760
(I have doubt on this "makanan berkhasiat" . I know medical treatment, dental care and nursing care are claimable.)

5. Books purchased overseas are stated in foreign language and currency (receipts). Got it now.

Another question to ask:

1.Medical insurance for my child, auto payment by my credit card. Can I pass to my spouse to claim it?

2. Complete medical examination is meant for individual self, spouse and child. If the bill is paid by my husband for all of us, can I claim the amount?

Thanks.

1. It's the medical insurance policy under your husband name?

2. As long as the receipt is under your name.
