How is it most efficient and cost efficient if every litre of clean water, you're wasting 4 litres of water?

Correct me if I am wrong but generally RO water filter has a 1:4 ratio where every litre of clean water it filters, there will be 4 litres waste water. source

The other thing is power consumption. Since it needs a pump to increase the water pressure so that H2O can pass through the membrane, the power consumption will be higher than other water filters. source

how is it wasteful if you collect the water and use it in non-drinking areas? suggest you buy water bottle.

how wasteful is electricity if you only on it for a few minutes to collect water? suggest u dont use aircon.

RO is good for everyone, unless you don't eat food (that full of all minerals that you need).

RO is definately the best choice to go, in terms of NSF/whatever rating it should get 100/100.

However i can't find any cost effective model in malaysia yet.

Please share good (and cheap) models to help everyone drinking cleaner and cheaper model.

What i hate about living in malaysia is 3 things: expensive car/road tax, overpriced internet package, and dirty water/ extremely ex water filter systems.

As I have shared previously, WHO recommend any normal healthy person NOT to drink demineralised water (e.g. RO or distilled water). You can read their study here.

Since you claim that it is the best water, please share any reputable source to back your claim. Please do not simply say 'RO is definately the best choice to go'.

Yes, if you do collect the water and use it for something else, it is not wasteful. However The RO water filters I know of directs the waste water directly to the drain. If you are doing so, then good for you.

You need to keep the electricity on 24/7. If you do buy a RO water filter, the salesperson will tell you not to off the water filter. This is because RO water is produced slowly due to the membrane. For example, Coway Water Purifier Value P-07Q produces 7.9l/hr and it has a 6.5l tank. source

Meaning every minute you will have 132ml of water. If that is fast enough for you, then good. For me, it is just too slow. smile.gif

Oh, I do prefer not to use aircond when possible. icon_idea.gif

RO is just pure water molecules, nothing else. Correct me if i am wrong.

Tell me how is that harmful if you eat a balance diet and drinks RO water? provide source if you disagree.

Anyway on second thoughts, i rather not go into that endless debate.

I am using Amway eSpring for many years. I did do my research and learn about the other water filters in the market, which is why I choose it. I can share what I know to you personally but in this thread there are already a lot of reviews and comments on eSpring, and all the other water filters. But this is just my personal choice.

Go through this thread and I believe it will help you choose a water filter that's best for you. smile.gif

MLM Products are simply overpriced, tend to avoid them, there are more generic ones that worth exploring for the price it's worth. Previously explored Culligan, now trying to go RO or anything that is value for money yet reliable in filtration. Still looking...

It means you never study on it, that's why you say it is overpriced.
Not all MLM are as bad as you said, study the tech behind and the price before judging.

You would have to argue with WHO on that.

I remember reading the WHO report on RO water. It says while normal water contains very small amount of mineral, they are still considered important or essential or something to that effect. So I guess you will have to argue with WHO on your different opinion.

There are no perfect system but eSpring is IMO one of the better ones around and which I am also using. Reasons being:
1. It has proper NSF certification.
2. The replacement parts are easy to find.
3. No need to boil water.

For me, the No 1 problem of eSpring would be it's inability to filter off heavy metal like Aluminium etc which RO should be able to.

choose heavy metal & pesticides vs essential minerals (get from food).

you got the answer, it's an easy choice.

Pesticides, eSpring should be able to remove.

It's heavy metal that would be a problem.

As for re-mineralization, I think you can only put back a limited type of mineral back into RO water.

If you are really concern about heavy metal, I suggest installing an external water filter that can filter heavy metal.

As for pesticides, eSpring can filter it since it is NSF/ANSI401 certified.

I doubt that can remove dissolved heavy metal.
