Most of the time it is quite difficult to get inside to actually clean it properly. They can use chemicals though. Best would be to call a service provider and ask them what will be included in the price.

I see more and more people switch to tankless design, seems to be a trend. Tankless + sediment + carbon block. The reason is this horrible smell, I have no idea what happened recently, but some areas are affected, there's a lot more chlorine than there was just few months ago.

the reason i'm asking the sales people told me that, if clean the tank that just means that they take away the water so that we can technically get the filtered water straight away to the tank. Otherwise he said we may need to wait until all the water in the tank is fully utilized before we can get filtered water in the house. If that the case, I don't find the point to pay extra to do the cleaning hmm.gif

If the only empty the tank and do nothing else, then really no point. If they somehow clean all the dirt inside, then yes. In any case, it is PoE filter, just install and eventually the tank will clean itself, no big deal, no need to pay extra for it.

Can, but he has eSpring PoU. Sand filter at 40 micron actual will still let so much through... Actually with expensive eSpring cartridge and if the water quality is overall not horrible and also on budget, a pre filter dedicated to eSpring will do to make this cartridge last longer.

As far as I know, there's none in eSpring, everything goes straight to carbon block.

WARNING!!!!

Beware of FAKE DOW FILMTEC MEMBRANES!

They are everywhere! Amazon, Taobao, Lazada, everywhere. And Dow definitely doesn't help the situation by constantly changing labels to less protection, changing part numbers and then reverting back (TW30 to BW60, then back to TW30, but keeping some as BW60).

There is no way that 50GPD membrane can retail for less than 25 USD, yet there are plenty of offers for as low as 60RMB, less than 10USD.

Amazon is also full of fake, I experienced it myself. Since Amazon has various sellers and vendors selling on the platform, some of them sneak in fake membranes.

Just bought from Amazon. US 25. Sold and fullfilled by Amazon. How to see if it is fake?

Really no way to tell from the looks. One way to tell is through TDS measurement after 3 months. Problem with fakes is that they are treated with chlorine to give them ok performance at first, but it goes really bad in 3 months.

Sold by Amazon also does not guarantee much, since we do not know who is the vendor. (Sellers become vendors if Amazon approves it)

Oh, then my bad, it does have a pre filter... In that case, why do so many people complain about pre mature clogging, if it gets clogged just replace the pre filter... Confusing

You bought transparent? They do tend to explode a lot more often than blue brothers and also they are not UV resistant at all, so better install where there is minimum direct sunlight

Can you measure the length of it, with and without tubes sticking out? Some fakes are slightly shorter

Ok, great! Just make sure it is installed somewhere, where even if it explodes, it doesn't do any harm. Because when (and if) it explodes, pieces can be flying around like bullets.

See how it does and you may then consider upgrading to pleated polyester cartridge wink.gif.

BTW, who is the installer? I'm struggling to find good contractors for installation of PoE or PoU

BTW, information about SST published on 20th of Aug:

Water filters (RO and non RO) are SST EXEMPT! This means that filters/components/cartridges prices really have no reason to go up in price on Sep 1st.

Let's see how it actually plays out.
