read news here :
Bangkok airport closed as protests turn violent Rampaging anti-government protesters forced the closure of Thailand's main international airport Tuesday as a second day of demonstrations in Bangkok descended into violence with 11 injured in clashes. Thousands of supporters of the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) breached police lines and stormed Suvarnabhumi Airport -- a major hub for millions of travellers -- in their effort to pressure the premier to resign. "I decided to shut down services after the protesters broke the door on the fourth floor of the terminal and stormed into the departure lounge. I had no alternative," airport director Saereerat Prasutanont said. more : http://news.my.msn.com/topstories/article....umentid=1803035 |

I bought the MAS ticket to BKK on 31/01/2009 until 04/02/2009.
I was planning on a 5D4N trip to BKK-Pattaya. I am not sure whether I can cancelled my trip or not since latest news says theres blast at the BKK Suvarnabumi airport. Read here; http://news.my.msn.com/topstories/article....umentid=1803656 I went there in October 2008 and everything in the capital was nice but now it look so bleak. I wonder why there is no announcement from Air Asia and MAS that they are suspending flight to BKK. According to my tour guide most people or like majority of the people is in favor of Thaksin. Hopefully everything will return to normal asap. |

usually they request a 48-72 hour warning before you cancel. plus depending on the quality of the hotel they might not give you a good refund. like a cheapo hotel might give you 50-70% refund only. or they might charge you one night stay. then the rest is cancelled.
goodluck. but in cases such as airport shutting down. im sure if you are willing to argue you could get a better refund. do you have any travel insurance? sometimes they cover issues like this. |

Some of my colleague booked to bangkok on 16th Jan 2009, they say they can't do anything except to wait and see. I called the MAS ticketing department yesterday, their service sucks big time. I enquire about my flight for end of Jan 2009, they ask me to "hold on" and never get back to me. Its like eternity. Maybe those global sales makes them treat client badly since the thing is cheap. I haven't book the hotel + tours + meals for the BKK-PATTAYA 5D4N package yet. I guess I too is wait and see. Those people employed in the tourisme industry really depend their livehood on them. Like a million of them and now everything screwed up. Pity them also. Look at the Bernama news, hundreds of M'sian stuck in Bangkok. I think they sure are feeling very scared or maybe hated Thailand for the rest of their life. |

The PAD is getting riotous...being armed. They've been at it for about 6 months now. Sept, they block the access roads to airport at Bangkok, Phuket and Krabi. Today they also blockage the domestic airport. South of thailand, suka suka bomb and killings by separatist movement. Haiz...The world getting so violent! Mumbai...random shooting ...take foreigners hostage pulak |
