Last time in Osaka also similar situation. Being tourist, try to make full use of the timing.. getting out earlier but yet most shop still close. Even the Kuromon Market in Osaka (market man).. 8am like still sleeping.

@RegentCid, can you help to verify is this route correct from Osaka to Arima Onsen ? Is the Arima Onsen walking distance from the Arima Onsen station?

1. From Osaka JR Station take JR Line to Sannomiya JR Station
2. Then take Kobe-shieichikatetsu Line to Tanigami Station
3. Then take Kobe Dentetsu Line to Arimaguchi Station
4. Then take Shintetsu arima line to Arima Onsen
Total time 60mins

Found another route because not sure if the above route correct. Which route is easier for 1st timer?

Thanks thanks

No no no.
Too slow too slow.....
First you need to take Hankyu Railway to Rokko Station. Then taking Rokko cable car to Mountain Rokko. At Mountain Rokko then switch to Rokko Arima Ropeway to Arima Onsen.

Someone here adviced me that 7am breakfast at kuramon ichiba is too late. I went there almost 6am and nothing open yet. Next day I went there at 7 something and only the grocery shop started to open. Other shop just started to bring in the fishes and other stuff. While the restaurants actually mentioned that they open later than 8am. Lucky there's family mart nearby so I can have my breakfast.

Maybe in autumn the timing is diff.

In the end, I never had the chance to visit the market when it's open. But still early morning walk during autumn is dam freaking nice.

From Arima Onsen to Osaka can used normal route which is yours one. Make compare........beauty vs boring.

Hi all, i am planning for a 10 days trip to Japan (First timer)

Knowing that most of you have been to Japan before, i would appreciate it if you could give me some opinion on my itinerary.

I plan to land in Osaka and fly out from Tokyo, do you think it's a good idea?
My trip will basically be like this: Osaka -> Kyoto -> Tokyo. In between i might add in Nara or Nayoga perhaps.

But what i'm trying to ask is, if the whole idea of landing in Osaka and fly out from Tokyo is a wise one? Or do you think i should land and fly out from the same airport?

Please advise.
And i would appreciate it if you could suggest some of the itinerary that would be practical for my trip. Thanks in advance!

@RegentCid amazing!!! Thank you thumbup.gif
Definitely BEAUTY and the Kansai Thru Pass u recommended nail it down!!!! Plus offers on onsen entries and others tourist spots!!! Here's the finding on the PASS, not sure if PASS allows for return tickets for Cable Car and Ropeway as didn't find the restriction on the PDF Guide.

With Kansai Thru Pass:
from Osaka to Rokko station (560 yen / 46 mins) - Covered
Then from Rokko Station take Kobe City Bus #16 to base station Rokko Cable (210 yen/10mins) - Covered
Take Cable Car to Mountain Rokko (590 yen-20% /10mins) and
Take circular bus line to top station (260 yen/10mins) - Not sure if walking will be better option with scenery
and from Rokko Arima Ropeway (1010 yen-20% /12mins, 1820 yen round trip) down to Arima Onsen
Total time : 78mins / ~1540 yen (Saving ~1000 yen vs Kansai Thru 2 days PASS 4000 yen)

You need to decide for yourself.
First research kansai area, decide what you want to do, and evaluate how many days it takes. If everything you interested in end up need 8 days then why bother travelling to Tokyo (for example)
If you decide that you wanna cover Tokyo as well then compare the flight price difference and schedule
Then consider how you plan to travel to/from kansai/Tokyo - what cost, and time needed.
With this info then you sendiri decide does it make sense to fly open jaw or not.

FYI for first timer, generally 10 days you won't be able to cover all the major touristy stuff in both places.

im also flying in Osaka n fly out Tokyo, compared tix n not much difference, as it covers more ground n more convenient. Like they said, 10D might be packed for osaka n kyoto (depending whats ur interest), adding tokyo will probably kill ur trip tongue.gif

im already planning for 12 days at osaka + kyoto + nearby areas ,, then slowly make my way to tokyo.
